International Woman's Day Celebrated at Muswellbrook Regional Arts Centre
International Women's Day is being celebrated around the world in various ways on March 8 2013, The Muswelbrook Regional Art Centre will host a talk by guest speakers Angela Philp, Head of Art History and Theory, School of Creative Arts, University of Newcastle, and Strong Women curator Deborah Sims.
Angela will discuss the history of aboriginal women's art and its importance in the resurgence of aboriginal cultural traditions and their practice in the remote communities of Central Australia
Deborah Sims, Curator of Strong Women, Strong Painting, Strong Culture, will talk on the role of women artists in the context of the Women's Movement.
These talks will give a wonderful insight into the meaning and background b of the artwork in the exhibition "Strong Women, Strong Painting, Strong Culture". The Exhibition will continue in the Muswellbrook Regional Arts Centre until Sunday 17 March 2013
