Social Networks of Brazil Tourism Ministry Suggest Special Tours Honoring Places Named after Women

Beauty, strength and grace. With so many recognizably feminine qualities, it’s no wonder that women lend names to cities in Brazil. On the eve of International Women’s Day, celebrated on March 8, it was only fair to remember and honor them.

From north to south in Brazil, there is the presence of specific feminine styled municipalities, but have in common the ability to enchant tourists and render many stories to tell.In Minas Gerais, for example, Mariana is famous for its history and traces the era of gold mining in the state. Old buildings, such as houses, churches and squares give testimonies of a country of old, colonial Brazil.

There will be hardly any, who like to travel in the Northeast region, who have not heard about Carolina, Maranhão. Rich in waterfalls, mountains, beaches and islands, the city is also the entrance to one of the main attractions of the region: the Chapada das Mesas, a monument carved by nature.

For those who prefer other routes, there is still the option of cottages offered by the town of Dona Francisca, in Rio Grande do Sul Parks, squares and farms offer the tranquility and charm of country life in very mild temperatures.

And if you know other Brazilian destinations with names of women, you can share through Brazil Tourism Ministry’s social networks. After all, these women deserve many other honors.
