A Full Itinerary on how to spend 48 wonderful hours in Athens!

Acropolis
Athens is a city that has a lot to offer you.

One minute you walk into a very trendy area with shops, then you turn into a narrow street and suddenly you see ancient ruins right in front of you. The effect of this dramatic contrast is quite moving. You know the food is amazing.

We have created an itinerary so you can tour the most important sights in just two days!

The program includes:
Acropolis (Parthenon, Temple of Athena Nike, Erechtheion, Dionysus Theater, Odeon of Herodes Atticus), Acropolis Museum & Ancient Agora (Temple of Hephaestus, Conservatory of Agrippa, Stoa of Attalos), Monastiraki Square and Flea Market, National Garden and Temple of Olympian Zeus, Syntagma Square and Panathenaic Stadium.

Day 1:
8:00 - Go to the Acropolis when the gates open to pass the crowd and take lots of pictures. Get a map at the entrance to be sure you will not miss anything!

10:00 - Buy coffee in hand at the base of the Acropolis (near the metro) and walk to the shops of historic Plaka that open at that time.

11:00 - Go to the Acropolis Museum. Do not forget to look at the live excavation sites through the glass floors outside the entrance.

13:00 - Food in Plaka. What else but souvlaki with a Greek salad?

15:00 - Head east from the Acropolis to see the temple of Olympian Zeus. Keep walking until you see a large highway and you will see the monument just across the street. Temple (Columns) of Olympian Zeus

17:00 - Walk back to the subway through the National Park and explore the beauty.

Maybe it’s time to rest for a couple of hours.

Panathenaic Stadium
20:00 - Get dressed and dine in Athens. We suggest you the amazing food at the restaurant "Geros tou Moria" in Plaka, for the traditional dancing and breaking of the plates! Note: They bring you special dishes to break.

22:00 - Walk in Monastiraki and Plaka.

Sit in a shop that will inspire you and order Greek wine.

Day 2:
08:00 - Wake up to enjoy traditional Greek coffee. You know, the one served in small espresso cups.

9:00 - Get on the subway and go to Syntagma. Spend a minute in the square and then walk to the Panathenaic Stadium (Kallimarmaro).

1:30 - Take the metro and get off at Thiseio to walk to the Ancient Agora. There you can observe the very well-preserved temple of Hephaestus, before passing to the Conservatory of Agrippa to the Museum of the Ancient Agora, which houses the Stoa of Attalos.

13:30 - From the Stoa of Attalos, Monastiraki is on the other side of the metro. See the fresh products of the sellers in the square before you sit down to eat in Monastiraki. This time order appetizers for the middle of the table that you can share with your friends and maybe you could order traditional moussaka. Every restaurant will tell you that theirs is the best!

16:00 - How about a little bit of souvenir shopping at the Flea Market in Monastiraki?

17:30 - Go to the Tavern "Klimataria" for a Greek cooking class! You may not be hungry yet, but after a few hours in the kitchen, you will be ready to eat everything!

21:00 - Go for a drink with your new friends from the cooking class or buy a small bottle of local ouzo to enjoy back at your hotel.

Useful Tips:
  • Buy the all-day subway ticket, not the hourly rate.
  • Take your time at every meal. Lunch and dinner require a few hours of enjoyment.
  • Wear shoes without a flat sole. There are marbles everywhere. Seriously, many sidewalks are made of marble.
  • Get used to the light breakfast and dinner at very advanced hours. Most Greeks just drink coffee and maybe eat toast for breakfast, so you will not find many restaurants open during the morning hours. Your solutions are two: Breakfast at your hotel or breakfast from the numerous bakeries you will find literally at every corner.
  • You can see the Acropolis from everywhere in Athens. Do not stay in the room because you have a view of the Acropolis!
  • If you want to eat souvlaki in Athens, do not forget to say "with pita". If you do not say so, they will offer you a plate with chopped gyros, vegetables, and sauce, but you cannot eat it as a sandwich.
  • When buying tickets to the Acropolis, buy a multi-day ticket for the whole day, which will take you to all the attractions.

Challenging current perspectives of space and movement, the kinetic Korea Pavilion interacts both with its audience and its surroundings, demonstrating how the real world is simulated by virtual reality to move and change.

 

The Slovakia Pavilion describes the nation’s rapid development and technological growth, particularly in transport. Visitors can explore a hydrogen-powered passenger car, a technology the nation perceives as the fuel of the future.

 

Meanwhile, the Estonia Pavilion will introduce e-solutions that are part of the people’s daily lives, illustrating how Estonians are digital trailblazers that do nearly everything online. Visitors will also be able to walk under data clouds – a unique feat of interior design. 

 

Inspired by one of the late Professor Stephen Hawking’s final projects, “Breakthrough Message”, the UK Pavilion explores what humanity would communicate to other advanced civilisations, with the opportunity for visitors to add their voice to a continuously changing, collective message. Top 10 things to know for a winter visit to Yellowstone

The winter season is now on in Yellowstone National Park Wednesday, and most park roads are open to oversnow vehicles. Due to limited snow, travel will be restricted to snowcoaches until conditions improve.

Annually from mid-December until mid-March, visitors travel most of the park’s roads by commercially guided snowmobiles and snowcoaches, and via the non-commercially guided snowmobile program.

Top 10 Things to Know in Winter
1. Most Park Roads are Closed to Automobile
Check the road status map before you leave. The only exception is the road between the North and Northeast entrances, which is open to automobiles all year, conditions permitting. Drive cautiously and watch out for snowplows. Do not stop, stand, or walk in the road. Use a pullout if you need to stop for any reason.

2. Want to See Old Faithful?
Park partners and concessioners offer a variety of guided trips throughout the park during the winter months. Authorized businesses also offer guided tours for a variety of activities.

3. Services are Limited
Most facilities are closed during winter. Check winter operating hours for visitor centers, stores, restaurants, campgrounds, lodges and warming huts. Fill up on fuel and pack extra food and water.

4. Camping and Lodging
Old Faithful Snow Lodge and Mammoth Hotel are open during winter. Make reservations as far in advance as possible. Lodging is also available in nearby communities. The only campground in the park open year-round is in Mammoth Hot Springs, located 5 miles south of the park's North Entrance.

5. Prepare for Winter Conditions
Winter temperatures range from zero to 20°F (-20°C to -5°C) throughout the day. Sub-zero temperatures are common, especially at night and at higher elevations. Check current weather conditions, pack proper clothing and equipment, and review winter safety tips!

6. Do Not Approach or Feed Wildlife
The safest way to view wildlife is through a telephoto lens, a spotting scope or a pair of binoculars. Stay 100 yards (91 m) from bears and wolves and 25 yards (23 m) from all other wildlife. Animals always have the right of way. Expect to encounter bison and other wildlife on park roads. Slow down or pull over until they pass or move off the road.

7. Stay on Boardwalks
People have been severely injured or killed by breaking through thin ground in thermal basins or falling into hot springs. Snow-packed boardwalks can be slippery, especially near thermal areas. Wear traction aids over your shoes or boots.

8. Protect Yourself and Others
Consistent with CDC guidance, visitors to Yellowstone National Park, regardless of vaccination status or community transmission levels, are required to wear a mask indoors, on snowcoach and road-based tours, and in crowded outdoor spaces.

9. Enhance Your Experience
Download the free National Park Service app (and offline content) before you arrive.

10. Connectivity is Limited
You will likely not receive calls or texts, even in the few areas you have cell reception.

Winter travel ends in mid-March when plowing crews begin to clear a winter’s worth of snow. Roads will start to re-open to automobiles in mid-April.
