Tourism New Zealand recently joined forces with Tourism Australia to
exhibit at the world’s largest tourism convention, International Tourism
Bourse (ITB), which was held in Berlin from 6-10 March 2013.
“By teaming up with Tourism Australia, we significantly increased New
Zealand’s prominence at the show with the added benefit of a higher
profile for our stand as well as for operators and visitors selling both
destinations,” says Danielle Genty-Nott, Regional Manager UK &
Europe for Tourism New Zealand.
ITB is an annual event which attracts an average 170,000 visitors,
among these 113,000 trade visitors, and 11,000 represented travel
companies from 180 countries.
Four New Zealand specialist companies and 13 travel sellers
specializing in both Australia and New Zealand joined as stand partners.
The New Zealand specialist companies included: Air New Zealand; Nomad
Safaris; Pacific Destinationz and The Green Spot Ltd New Zealand.
Throughout ITB, the Tourism New Zealand team was kept busy with
scheduled and unscheduled appointments covering marketing, trade and
public relations activity with many strong leads generated.
“It was a very busy and very successful week for Tourism New Zealand and our stand partners.
“We had very positive comments about the joint stand and our
partnership with Tourism Australia; and strong interest from trade and
consumers alike in New Zealand,” says Danielle.
Feedback from stand partners was very positive, with many reporting
good leads and opportunities generated as a result of their
participation.
Commenting on the event Mark Badland from Pacific Destinationz said;
“Having New Zealand here participating at ITB is really important, and
teaming up with Tourism Australia always works well.
“For us ITB is a great way to see all our German clients in one
platform, and this year they have generally all been very positive about
New Zealand as a destination.”
