China’s Amusement Market Seeing Upward Growth

Amusement parks possess huge market potential as everyone has recreation demands, regardless of age, gender and social class. As an important part of game and amusement industry, theme park has set off a continuous upsurge around the country since the establishment of China’s first theme park in Overseas Chinese Town in 1989. According to golden week records of this year, Happy Valley in Shenzhen, Beijing, Chengdu, Shanghai and Wuhan basically received 20,000 visitors everyday and 820,000 in total, increasing by 41% over the same period of last year. Changzhou Joyland, Guangzhou Chimelong Paradise and other venues also welcomed lots of visitors.

In recent years, interactive theme parks are gaining an increasing amount of popularity, leading to a new round of theme park boom. Chimelong Group has altogether invested 20 billion Yuan to put up a tourist destination in Hengqin Island, Zhuhai. Once fully completed, Chimelong International Ocean Resort is expected to receive over 20 million people each year. Besides, Shanghai Disneyland which attracts 24.5 billion Yuan investment is under construction as well and will be completed in 2016.

Nowadays, China’s parks, amusement and recreation grounds are seeing booming development. The industry chain is drawing unprecedented attention. In addition to the building of large parks and the rising of industrial bases, CIAE, being Asia’s largest expo of Leisure & Recreation, Game & Amusement, has developed into a new focus in China’s amusement market. It closely connects with game and amusement bases around the country, such as Zhongshan city is main amusement machines & large-scale machines; Shenzhen is main animation industry & high-tech film & Video ; Panyu District is main Animation Game &  Theme Park, which is the first choice for shopping mall to purchase animation game machines, etc. Being endowed with unique geographical advantages, CIAE will cover an area of 100,000 square meters. So as to meet development trends and to facilitate buyers, the exhibition will set up Theme Park Pavilion for the first time in 2013 and hold Asia Theme Park Development Summit concurrently. By virtue of the combination of exhibition and conference, a platform will be built for product showcase and technical communication. At the same time, a new channel will also be created for conveying industrial policies, obtaining market information, introducing advanced technologies and promoting excellent products in foreign markets.

At present, theme parks combining high-tech mechanical entertainment and humanized scene experience become a new trend. Following the improvement of living standards, people value spiritual consumption a lot. The establishment of game and amusement bases, large parks and professional exhibitions indicates a slow shift in people’s consumption concept. Therefore, we have good reasons to believe that driven by new consumption concept, China’s game and amusement industry will certainly experience rapid growth and step forward to a new height!
