Vietnam Luxury Resort Leads The Way With One Of The Country’s Biggest Hotel Solar Power Projects

Alma Resort Cam Ranh
Vietnam’s luxury hospitality sector is taking a major step toward a greener future, with Alma Resort Cam Ranh undertaking what it believes is the nation’s most ambitious hotel solar power project to date.

Located along a spectacular 30-hectare beachfront setting on the Cam Ranh peninsula, Alma Resort is harnessing Vietnam’s abundant sunshine to dramatically reduce its environmental footprint while setting a powerful benchmark for sustainable luxury travel in Southeast Asia.

With thousands of solar panels being installed across the resort, the landmark initiative reflects the growing movement toward eco tourism, sustainable resorts and renewable energy in global hospitality.

Alma Resort Cam Ranh Launches Major Solar Energy Transformation

Alma Resort Cam Ranh is currently completing a large-scale solar power installation involving 4476 solar panels spread across 23,290 square metres of rooftop space.

The solar panels are being installed across the resort’s 196 pavilions, two distinctive V-shaped towers containing 384 suites, as well as the lobby lounge and utility building.

Once completed later this year, the solar power system will generate 2462 kilowatts peak of energy capacity, enabling the luxury Vietnam resort to supply between 25 and almost 30 percent of its electricity needs, depending on seasonal occupancy levels.

The project is expected to deliver substantial long-term environmental and financial benefits, positioning Alma as a sustainability leader within Vietnam’s luxury hotel landscape.

Millions Saved And Thousands Of Tonnes Of Carbon Reduced

Alma Resort Cam Ranh
The numbers behind the solar initiative highlight the significant impact renewable energy can have within the tourism industry.

Over the next 25 years, Alma estimates the solar power system will reduce electricity expenses by as much as USD 7.2 million, equivalent to approximately VND 178 billion.

Equally important, the project is expected to reduce the resort’s carbon dioxide emissions by up to 65,000 tonnes over the same period.

For environmentally conscious travellers increasingly searching for eco friendly accommodation in Vietnam, initiatives of this scale are becoming a key factor in choosing where to stay.

Alma’s Managing Director Herbert Laubichler-Pichler believes the project demonstrates the powerful potential of renewable energy within Vietnam’s hotel sector.

“Cam Ranh is renowned as having Vietnam’s best weather, averaging more than 300 sunny days annually,” he said.

“The abundant sunshine here lends itself to such a profound and sustainable alternative to electricity that we are well and truly on the way to finishing soon.”

Why Cam Ranh Is Perfect For Solar Powered Tourism

Cam Ranh’s climate makes it an ideal location for solar energy innovation.

Widely recognised for its year-round sunshine, the destination enjoys more than 300 sunny days annually, creating highly favourable conditions for large-scale solar power generation.

The timing also aligns with Vietnam’s broader renewable energy boom.

Vietnam has emerged as Southeast Asia’s leading solar energy market, supported by favourable government policies, strong private sector investment and growing national demand for cleaner energy solutions.

As sustainability becomes increasingly important within luxury tourism, destinations such as Cam Ranh are well positioned to become leaders in environmentally responsible hospitality.

Sustainability Extends Beyond Solar Panels At Alma Resort

Alma Resort Cam Ranh
While the solar power project is attracting attention, renewable energy forms just one part of Alma Resort’s broader sustainability strategy.

The resort has developed several onsite food production initiatives designed to reduce food miles and promote fresher, more sustainable dining experiences.

Its chemical-free Herb Garden, Nursery Garden and Chicken Farm supply fresh herbs, produce and eggs used throughout the resort’s restaurants.

The commitment to environmental responsibility extends into daily operations through an extensive range of sustainability measures.

A 325-square-metre water treatment facility uses a reverse osmosis system to produce approximately 70,000 litres of drinkable water and ice each week for the resort’s kitchens.

The property’s waste management system processes around 250 kilograms of waste daily, separating recyclables and compostable materials while ensuring reusable products are diverted from landfill wherever possible.

Used cooking oil is also collected and resold to non-food businesses for recycling purposes.

Electric Transport And Paperless Solutions Shape A Greener Guest Experience

Alma Resort’s sustainability initiatives continue throughout its transportation and operational systems.

The resort’s 360-square-metre buggy station supports a fleet of 36 electric buggies that transport guests around the expansive beachfront property.

Each buggy typically requires around six hours of charging, helping reduce reliance on conventional fuel-powered vehicles.

The resort has also embraced digital and paperless operational systems while actively involving staff in sustainability programmes designed to reduce the property’s overall carbon footprint.

These initiatives reflect the evolving expectations of modern travellers, many of whom increasingly seek luxury accommodation that balances comfort, environmental responsibility and authentic destination experiences.

Luxury Travel Meets Sustainable Innovation In Vietnam

Alma Resort Cam Ranh
As global tourism increasingly shifts toward sustainability, Alma Resort Cam Ranh is demonstrating how luxury hospitality and environmental responsibility can successfully work together.

Its ambitious solar power project not only highlights Vietnam’s growing renewable energy leadership but also showcases how resorts can innovate while delivering high-end guest experiences.

For travellers seeking sustainable luxury accommodation in Vietnam, Alma Resort Cam Ranh is helping redefine what environmentally conscious travel can look like in one of Southeast Asia’s most exciting tourism destinations.

Alma Named ‘Best Family Hotel in Vietnam’ by Little Steps Asia

Alma Resort on the Cam Ranh Peninsula, just south of Nha Trang, was named the “Best Family Hotel in Vietnam” by Little Steps Asia, an influential regional parenting publication based in Hong Kong, in its annual travel awards for 2025-26.

The editors praised Alma’s 12 swimming pools, 14 dining venues, 580 ocean-view suites and “Vietnam’s most exciting waterpark” as highlights, saying, “Alma Resort is the perfect destination for families looking to unwind and enjoy quality time together.”

Little Steps Asia described Alma as a “300,000 sqm coastal paradise,” adding that “every moment is crafted for connection, joy and unforgettable memories.”

Herbert Laubichler-Pichler, Alma’s Managing Director, said, “We are grateful to our hardworking team who continue to work tirelessly to make Alma Vietnam’s best family resort. We constantly strive to lead the way in trends and adapt to the evolving needs of modern family travelers.”

More than 700 hotels across Asia were nominated in the annual awards, with more than 12,000 people voting for their favorite properties across 17 countries. Little Steps Asia, founded in 2008, is a top lifestyle and travel resource for parents throughout the region.

The award follows Alma’s launch earlier this month of the new Alma Discovery Camp, a recreation and educational facility that connects children with nature, farm animals and sustainable agriculture. The camp offers hands-on learning through interactive farm visits and a dedicated museum. Children can explore the farm’s habitat, petting and feeding animals, including cows, goats, chickens, ducks and rabbits.

In addition to the farm, Alma is home to an awe-inspiring array of family-friendly facilities, ranging from the Alma Technology Experience Center, kids club and youth club, to a 75-seat cinema and a 6,000sqm water park replete with a lazy river, wave pool, slides and kids pool. Alma offers a host of activities for all ages such as cupcake-, fruit shake- and pizza-making workshops, kite-flying competitions, tree planting and virtual reality golf.

The resort also organizes a “Hotelier Pastry Tour” program to inspire interest and creativity in baking. The program takes children to visit the resort’s bakery, learn about the baking process and try the cakes that Alma’s talented chefs craft for diners. Other popular kids’ activities include VR games in the Youth Club and kids’ water scooters.

Earlier this year, Alma introduced new “Kids’ Themed Rooms,” including optional boys’ and girls’ playful room set-ups that bring a riot of colour to any of Alma’s oversized suites and pavilions. Kids are greeted in their themed room with a personalised card, welcome board, cookies, colourful pillows, towel art, themed kids bedding and a kiddie float for the pool.

The Little Steps Asia award follows a slew of other recent honors. Alma was named “Vietnam’s Best Family Resort” in the Australian magazine Holidays with Kids 2024 Readers’ Choice Awards. It was also recently called out as the No. 1 resort in Southeast Asia, the No. 2 resort in Asia and No. 9 resort worldwide in Travel + Leisure’s World’s Best Awards in 2024.

Non-motorised activities such as cycling, hiking, and bamboo rafting are encouraged, reflecting Anurak’s commitment to low-impact tourism. Guests can also explore an educational, signposted nature trail that highlights the region’s unique flora, fauna, and spectacular limestone formations.

Understandably, it is no easy feat balancing work, family and study obligations. Congratulations to our graduates on their wonderful achievements. Mr. Kong Chi Meng, Representative of the Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture and Director of the Education and Youth Development Bureau, said, “Talent cultivation is of paramount importance to the success of an enterprise. As part of the Company’s emphasis and commitment to Whole Person Development, Melco’s Learning Academy has offered over 500 learning programs per year since its establishment in 2010.

Melco adopts a systematic approach to accelerate talent growth through Whole Person Development. Its various talent diversification programs provide colleagues and the community with cross-functional exposure into various departments other than one’s own for foundation development, exposure to various experiences, projects and challenges, and development opportunities ranging from singular tasks to projects that can last anything from an hour to days, weeks, or months. Highlight initiatives include YOU-niversity Program, Foundation Acceleration Program, Culinary Foundation Acceleration Program, Back to School Program, Scholarship and Diploma Programs, Dare to Dream, Labour Affairs Bureau – Graduate Trainee Program and Melco’s in-house Learning Academy.

Among them, the Back to School Program provides colleagues who left school prematurely with the opportunity to gain their High School Diploma by undertaking formal education in-house at Melco alongside their employment. Melco was the first local integrated resort operator to launch such a program back in 2010. In addition, since 2015, Melco Learning Academy launched the Melco YOU-niversity Program in partnership with Edinburgh Napier University, a fully funded program for selected colleagues to study for a bachelor’s degree while working. Colleagues who successfully graduate from the Melco YOU-niversity Program attain a Bachelor of Arts in International Business Practice.

The Cape Dara Resort is luxurious beach-side 5-star 26 storey-high resort in Pattaya. It features 264 modern and natural styled hotel rooms and suites that offer panoramic views of Pattaya’s scenic bay and islands.

The modern relaxed decor of the room was lovely with pastel colors highlighted by the blue splashes of colour.
