With 1,200 square metres of outdoor and indoor facilities, the wellness area offers ten treatment rooms, plus a vitality indoor pool, sauna, steam bath and an ice igloo to refresh and rejuvenate. Further reinvigoration awaits at both indoor and outdoor areas of the Tivoli Shape, fully fitted with top-of-the-range Technogym equipment for efficient workouts, at the professional World Padel Tour courts and at each of the three newly refurbished swimming pools, all heated, the largest with salt water and one adults-only.

Astronaut Tim Peake Lands at Anantara Kihavah Maldives Villas Resort for a Stellar Week of Space Talk and Astronomy

One of the UK’s most famous astronauts, Tim Peake, is visiting Anantara Kihavah Maldives Villas Resort, this November to host a special evening of conversation with guests and a separate talk about space dedicated to teens.

Situated in the Baa Atoll, a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, Anantara Kihavah is home to the first overwater observatory in the Maldives and the most powerful telescope in the region. The private island resort’s location just above the equator means that both hemisphere’s stars are visible from the resort. Coupled with minimal light pollution and open skies, it is possible to see sights such as the pale-yellow rings of Saturn and the counter-rotating zones and belts of Jupiter and the Omega Centauri in the Milky Way making Anantara Kihavah the perfect partner for Tim’s talks and the ideal resort for astronomy and space enthusiasts.

A relaxed and intimate talk on Tim's ‘Journey Beyond Earth" will take place early evening on Thursday, 2 November 2023 on Anantara Kihavah’s Sky Deck, an overwater observatory combined with a luxury cocktail bar. Accompanied by champagne and cosmic-inspired cocktails, Tim will act as a personal guide through life in space, offering a fascinating insight into what it’s really like to be an astronaut; from training to launch, spacewalk to re-entry and the wonders of how and why humans journey into space. With a maximum of 20 guests joining, it will be possible to ask Tim questions delving deep into life as an astronaut.

Tim’s talk will be complemented by a 60-minute stargazing session at Sky with Anantara Kihavah’s resident Sky Guru, Hammadh, at a time that suits guests during their holiday. A native Maldivian, Hammadh will take guests on a journey across both hemisphere’s stars and planets, clarifying what can be seen both with the naked eye and using the resort’s powerful research-grade 16” Meade LX200 telescope mounted on a super-giant field tripod within the custom-built Ash-dome observatory which has a viewing capacity of 30 million light years away.

As his stay falls over the half term period, he will also host a talk on exploring space, for teens aged between 10 and 18 years-old on Friday, 3 November 2023. A bestselling author, Tim also has a popular series of books for young teens including the ‘Swarm Rising’ books and ‘The Cosmic Diary of our Incredible Universe’. Accompanied by cosmic inspired mocktails and space inspired snacks and deserts, Tim will chat about his books and life as an astronaut, including becoming the first British astronaut to both visit the International Space Station and conduct a space-walk during his six-month mission, and also running the London marathon from space. He may even give a few tips to anyone hoping to following in his footsteps. This will be followed by a 60-minute stargazing session with Hammadh, tailored to younger guests.

Fitting in with the astrology theme, Anantara Kihavah’s Kid’s Club will have an intergalactic takeover from 1 to 5 November, with little guests taking part in space-inspired activities such as recycled rocket craft, space cookie making, planet puppet making and space painting using coffee.

‘Journey Beyond Earth: An Inspiring Conversation with Tim Peake’ will take place from 5.30 – 6.30pm on 2 November. Tickets cost 165 USD (approx £130) per person, for up to 20 people accompanied by champagne, cosmic-inspired cocktails and canapes, and includes a 60-minute stargazing session with Sky Guru Hammadh. For younger guests, tickets for ‘Exploring Space with Tim Peake’ cost 125 USD (approx £98) per person, for up to 10 guests with cosmic-inspired mocktails and snacks and including a stargazing session with Hammadh.

Villas at Anantara Kihavah start from £1,200 per night with breakfast and dinner. There are six restaurants and bars, each offering a distinctive setting, menu and ambiance, including SEA, the resort’s signature underwater restaurant and wine cellar.

Tivoli Hotels & Resorts Celebrate 90 Years of History With New Exciting Destinations and Timeless Experiences

In 2023, Tivoli Hotels & Resorts is celebrating 90 years of timeless travels, a time to evoke nine decades of incredible stories, and also a time to proudly affirm the ambitious expansion of the brand into new destinations together with new glamourous experiences.

Tivoli Hotels & Resorts was born in 1933 with the opening of Tivoli Avenida Liberdade in the heart of Lisbon. What was once one hotel in the most renowned avenue of the Portuguese capital, has become an iconic collection of hotels and resorts in destinations around the world: from Portugal and The Netherlands to Brazil, from Qatar to China, and soon in Spain and Italy.

Tivoli is thrilled to celebrate its 90th anniversary offering guests unique experiences to collect long lasting memories of slow life. The Timeless Tour by Tivoli and Room 90 are two carefully designed offers with Tivoli’s signature, which are now launched on the dedicated anniversary website, available  https://90years.tivolihotels.com/en/ here.

The Timeless Tour by Tivoli is a bespoke 10-night exclusive offer for guests to enjoy a journey among the brand’s five-star hotels in Portugal, with a unique tailor-made experience of luxury, comfort and adventure. The suggested itinerary is to start in Lisbon at Tivoli Avenida Liberdade – the birth of the brand’s history, next travelling to Tivoli Palácio de Seteais in Sintra, and then to Tivoli Carvoeiro and Tivoli Marina Vilamoura in the Algarve. The tour will drive guests exclusively through some of the very best of Portugal, discovering the most scenic roads, the local arts and crafts, the typical local stores, with the added glamour of doing this tour in a vintage car, to give it a true flavour from the 30’s.

Room 90 brings the renewed pleasure of an hotel night stay delivering an exquisite added-value for guests, in a room designed to surprise and enchant with unique details that will make an unforgettable experience. This offer is now available in Lisbon, Sintra, Carvoeiro and Vilamoura in Portugal, and Amsterdam. The Room 90 in Tivoli Palácio de Seteais includes a two-night stay in the Royal Suite, specially decorated with silver pieces from the 200-hundred-year-old Portuguese brand, Leitão & Irmão, together with some of the best gastronomic experiences of the hotel, like the Dining Delight, the Queens’ Tea and the picnic in the gardens, among many other details. In Tivoli Doelen, the Room 90 includes a two-night stay in the Rembrandt Suite, where an exact replica of his painting The Night Watch hangs. The stay also includes a boat tour on the Amsterdam canals, a private Rembrandt guided tour through the hotel neighbourhood, including two entrance tickets to the Rembrandt Museum, and some gastronomic details like tea service and Dining Delight. All the details about Room 90’s offers are available https://90years.tivolihotels.com/en/ here and guests can choose their destination and book.

During the 12 months of celebrations, all Tivoli hotels are preparing delightful moments to share with guests bringing the brand pillars to life. From special concerts to curated wine dinners, from wellbeing escapes to local events, guests can enjoy a full programme, in each destination.

The year of the 90th anniversary also marks the brand’s expansion in Europe with Tivoli Doelen Hotel in Amsterdam, the first all-inclusive with Tivoli Alvor Algarve Resort in Portugal, both opened in March, and the upcoming launches this summer of Tivoli La Caleta Resort in Tenerife, Spain, and Tivoli Portopiccolo Sistiana Resort in northern Italy.

Tivoli is proud of its history

Opened in March 1933, Tivoli Avenida Liberdade soon became a true landmark of the city and a meeting point for celebrities, heads of state, actors, artists and royalty.

In 1955 Tivoli Palácio de Seteais joined the brand, an XVIII century palace in the historic town of Sintra, and at the turn of the century, in 1999, the brand added its first resorts in the main tourist destinations of the Algarve, in Vilamoura – with the perfectly located Tivoli Marina Vilamoura – and also in Carvoeiro, on the cliffside, with the Tivoli Carvoeiro.

In 2006, Tivoli Hotels & Resorts launched outside Portugal by acquiring its first property in Brazil: the Tivoli Ecoresort Praia do Forte, in Salvador da Bahia, followed by the Tivoli Mofarrej São Paulo, in February 2009.

After being acquired by Minor Hotels, Tivoli expanded into the Middle East in 2018, with three properties in Qatar and made its Asia debut in 2022 with the launch of Tivoli Chengdu at Cultural Heritage Park in China.

Over these nine decades, several generations of timeless travellers have left their mark on Tivoli's history: Marlene Dietrich, Beatriz Costa, Jorge Amado, Astor Piazzolla, Maria Callas, Neil Armstrong, Omar Sharif, Montserrat Caballé, Mário Vargas Llosa, Plácido Domingo, Geraldine Chaplin, Andrea Bocelli, Johnny Depp, Brad Pitt, Beyoncé and Jay Z, among many others, who have made Tivoli their home for a while.

Tivoli’s doors remain open to welcome those looking for luxurious slow living moments in Portugal, Brazil, Qatar, China, The Netherlands, and very soon Spain and Italy, and in other new and exciting destinations around the world coming soon.

Tivoli Hotels & Resorts to Debut in Spain with the Luxury Tivoli La Caleta Resort

Tivoli Hotels & Resorts announces its expansion in Europe with the brand’s upcoming debut in Spain. The luxury La Caleta Resort, located in Tenerife's Costa Adeje and which previously operated under the Sheraton brand, is scheduled to relaunch as Tivoli La Caleta Resort in spring next year.

The resort, which is currently closed and undergoing refurbishment, will reopen with 284 guest rooms, including 20 suites, four restaurants, two bars and ten meeting rooms, as well as three swimming pools, a fitness centre, plus tennis and paddle tennis courts. The property will also be home to a luxurious Anantara Spa, a space where ancient spa and wellness traditions are combined with modern techniques, to offer an incomparable experience.

Following the renovation, the resort will relaunch offering service to the high standards of the Tivoli brand, where, within the customer experience, gastronomy will play a key role. Tivoli Hotels & Resorts will continue its collaboration with well-known Portuguese chef Olivier da Costa for the development and implementation of new concepts through the restaurants the hotel will offer.

The first of them, Yakuza, specialises in fusion food between East and West. It proposes exclusive creations that combine Mediterranean flavours with the oriental tradition of sushi and sashimi. Guilty will be another of the restaurants, presenting a ‘casual food’ offer in a young and cosmopolitan space. The last of the concepts will be the classic Beach Club, a meeting point under the warm Canary Island sun, which will incorporate some of the most renowned dishes of the island’s gastronomy in its menu.

Currently with a portfolio of 16 properties in four countries, Tivoli Hotels & Resorts is owned by Minor Hotels and managed by NH Hotel Group in Europe. Tivoli La Caleta Resort will become the new benchmark for luxury tourism in Tenerife and as part of Minor Hotels’ global portfolio of over 530 properties, this will enable it to offer all the advantages of this international network, including being part of the Global Hotel Alliance (GHA), the world's largest alliance of independent luxury and upper-upscale hotels. This will also allow the hotel to join the GHA Discovery loyalty programme, which reaches 21 million people in a hotel offer of 800 hotels and resorts in 100 countries.

Of the brand’s existing hotels, 10 are in Portugal, including Tivoli Avenida Liberdade Lisboa in the capital and Tivoli Carvoeiro Algarve Resort on the country’s southern coast. Tivoli Hotels & Resorts will lead NH Hotel Group's growth in new resorts in the best holiday destinations in Southern Europe.

Ramón Aragonés, CEO of NH Hotel Group, highlights this operation as an important qualitative leap for the Tivoli brand and the company as a whole. “During this year, the combined and simultaneous commitment to leisure destinations and business travel destinations has strengthened the recovery capacity of NH Hotel Group. The entry of Tivoli Hotels & Resorts into Spain, with such a characteristic resort as La Caleta in Tenerife, allows us to take a strategic step forward, adding this destination to those already existing for the brand in Portugal, Brazil, Qatar and China. Going forward, expanding the footprint of this brand through top quality resorts will be a priority for us”.

With a journey that dates back to 1933 in Lisbon, Tivoli Hotels & Resorts is well-known for its cultural heritage and genuine connection to each destination.
