Family getaway to the Whitsundays for Grandparent’s Week

BIG4 Adventure Whitsunday Resort offers the most family-friendly Airlie Beach accommodation with an extra special theme for the June/July school holidays. Grandparent’s Week runs from 29 June to 6 July and offers a week of good old fashioned fun and games with the added bonus that kids stay free in cabins from Friday 24 June to Saturday 9 July*.

Families looking for the perfect environment to stay and play with young children will find a multitude of onsite activities at BIG4 Adventure Whitsunday Resort including the 32 metre lagoon style pool (heated throughout winter), two water slides, two giant jumping pillows, 18-hole mini golf, outdoor cinema, pedal carts, an Animal Park, Kid’s Club and an activity schedule that will have the kids running from morning to night.

Grandparent’s Week is an opportunity for children to discover the good-old fashioned fun their grandparents grew up with and make new holiday friends. Scavenger hunts, horse-riding lessons, discover scuba-diving classes, daily craft-making activities, sporting competitions – it’s all here to remind us to enjoy our family and friends and ‘get back to basics’. Balmy tropical evenings include outdoor movies, a special Wii disco and the favourite ‘Battle of the Generations’ competition. The additional special school holiday activities will run right through to 16 July to cater for the NSW school holiday makers.

Resort owner Greg McKinnon says, “We love this time of year because we see happy faces everywhere, kids having fun with new friends and our older visitors enjoying their youth and energy. The weather’s perfect, you can make plans for a few big adventures or just enjoy the simple delights and activities of the resort every day. So many guests tell us they just love coming to Airlie Beach for these winter holidays.”

Set in 26 acres of botanic-like tropical gardens, the resort is located just minutes away from Airlie Beach and a host of superb tour experiences to the natural wonders of the Great Barrier Reef, Whitehaven Beach and the colourful fringing reefs of the islands. Families like to pack scooters to enjoy the boardwalk from Cannonvale to Airlie Beach and there is a wide choice of National Park rainforest walks, birds and wildlife to spot, plenty of magic picnic spots and heaps of terrific natural experiences to discover. With a shopping centre walking distance from the resort, modern amenities, free BBQs, camp kitchen and wireless internet, you really do have everything you need at your fingertips.

The combination of the beautiful Whitsunday location, a choice of quality self-contained accommodation to suit different family sizes and budgets, loads of fun activities and the opportunity for special family connection time, all adds up to one big happy family holiday.
