From 13 April to 13 October 2025, the world will gather in Japan for Expo 2025 Osaka under the unifying theme “Designing Future Society for Our Lives.” With more than 150 countries and regions participating, this global event promises to be a dynamic meeting of minds, cultures and visions for a better tomorrow. Among the standout national pavilions, Australia’s contribution—Chasing the Sun—will be an unmissable celebration of innovation, inclusion, and natural beauty.
Australia Pavilion: Chasing the Sun Across a Continent
Australia's theme, Chasing the Sun, captures the essence of the nation's vibrant spirit. It speaks to a land bathed in sunlight, filled with possibility, and driven by creativity and hope. From its dynamic cultural identity to its breathtaking landscapes, Australia invites Expo visitors on a multisensory journey that follows the sun as it moves across the continent.
The experience offers much more than stunning visuals. Visitors will hear the calls of native wildlife, gaze at constellations in pristine night skies, and immerse themselves in the stories and traditions of Australia’s First Nations people. This storytelling reflects Australia’s belief that ancient wisdom can help guide us toward a sustainable and inclusive future.
A Blossoming Design Rooted in Identity
The Australia Pavilion, designed by architectural firm Buchan, is inspired by the flowering blossom of the iconic eucalyptus tree. With its many shapes and colours, the eucalyptus represents the diversity and dynamism of the Australian people. The blossom itself becomes a symbol of renewal and optimism—a fitting metaphor for the Expo’s goals.
Using sustainable and reusable materials, including elements from the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, the pavilion reflects Australia’s commitment to building a better world through design and innovation.
A Living Tapestry of Culture and Creativity
Inside the pavilion, culture takes centre stage. Expect a rich array of performances, exhibitions and live entertainment showcasing the country’s artistic flair and multicultural identity.
