VIP Tourism: Travelling the World with Your Very Important Pet

Monterey Bay Famous Dog Friendly Electric Bike and Sidecar Tour
Why Pet-Friendly Travel Is Booming

A major shift is reshaping the travel landscape—VIP Tourism, or Very Important Pet travel. For millions of travellers, pets are no longer left behind at home. Instead, they are becoming central to the travel experience, with holidays now planned around their comfort, enjoyment and wellbeing.

This growing trend reflects a broader cultural change, where pets are considered family members. As a result, travellers are actively seeking destinations, hotels and experiences that welcome their four-legged companions with open arms.

From luxury accommodation to curated pet-friendly adventures, VIP Tourism is redefining what it means to travel together.

Hotels Rolling Out the Red Carpet for Pets

Accommodation providers around the world are embracing this demand with dedicated pet-friendly programs. Brands like Kimpton Hotels have set a new standard by welcoming pets of all sizes at no extra cost, providing amenities such as beds, bowls and personalised touches.

Similarly, Loews Hotels offers specialised services including gourmet pet menus and dog-walking assistance, ensuring that pets enjoy the same level of care as their owners.

In Sydney, QT Sydney takes things a step further with premium pet amenities, including orthopedic beds and unique treats. These offerings highlight how seriously the hospitality industry is taking the needs of travelling pets.

Experiences Designed for You and Your Pet

Sedona Outlaw Trail
Beyond accommodation, travellers are increasingly booking experiences that include their pets. Dog-friendly beaches, parks and outdoor adventures are becoming key considerations when planning a trip.

This trend is particularly popular among active travellers, who want to share outdoor experiences such as hiking, walking tours and scenic exploration with their pets. It transforms travel into a shared experience, strengthening the bond between owner and animal.

The demand for pet-inclusive activities has surged dramatically, reflecting the growing importance of pets in travel decision-making.

Animal Encounters Beyond Your Own Pet

Even when pets cannot travel, animal-focused experiences remain a strong part of this trend. Travellers are seeking opportunities to connect with animals in meaningful and ethical ways.

At Nihi Sumba Resort in Indonesia, visitors can experience the unique activity of swimming with horses along pristine beaches. Meanwhile, Pebble Cove Farm in the Pacific Northwest offers guests the chance to interact with rescued farm animals in a peaceful, natural setting.

These experiences allow travellers to connect with animals in ways that are both memorable and responsible.

The Rise of Cat Cafés and Urban Animal Experiences

Urban destinations are also embracing animal-centric travel experiences. Cat cafés, once a niche concept, are now a global phenomenon.

Cities like Tokyo and New York City have seen a surge in visitors seeking out these unique venues. They offer a relaxing environment where guests can enjoy a coffee while spending time with resident cats.

This trend highlights a growing desire for comfort, companionship and stress relief during travel, even in busy urban environments.

Why VIP Tourism Is Here to Stay

The rise of VIP Tourism is backed by significant growth in bookings for pet-friendly and animal-related experiences. Travellers are increasingly prioritising inclusivity, ensuring that their pets are part of their journeys whenever possible.

This trend also aligns with the broader movement towards personalised travel. By incorporating pets into their plans, travellers are creating experiences that feel more meaningful and tailored to their lifestyles.

Plan Your Pet-Friendly Getaway

VIP Tourism is transforming the way we travel, making it more inclusive, personal and rewarding. Whether exploring new destinations with your pet or seeking out unique animal encounters, the opportunities are expanding rapidly.

A New Era of Luxury in Mykonos

Mykonos has long been famous for its vibrant nightlife, stylish beach clubs and cosmopolitan atmosphere. Now, Four Seasons is introducing a more refined and tranquil style of island luxury designed for travellers seeking exclusivity, serenity and personalised experiences.

Cascading elegantly down rocky cliffs through landscaped terraces and flowering gardens, the resort creates the feeling of a private Greek village overlooking the crystal-clear sea. Guests can unwind on the hotel’s secluded beach, relax beside infinity pools or enjoy panoramic sunset views from spacious private terraces.

The opening of Four Seasons Hotel Mykonos further elevates Greece’s reputation as one of the world’s leading luxury travel destinations.

Prime Location Near Mykonos Attractions

Four Seasons Hotel Mykonos
Positioned on the southern side of Mykonos at Kalo Livadi Bay, the resort offers easy access to the island’s famous attractions while maintaining an atmosphere of privacy and seclusion.

Guests are only twenty minutes from Mykonos Airport and the enchanting whitewashed streets of Chora, the island’s iconic main town filled with designer boutiques, art galleries, cafes and nightlife.

The hotel also provides an ideal base for exploring Delos, one of the world’s most important archaeological and mythological sites and the legendary birthplace of Apollo. Accessible by boat, Delos offers travellers a fascinating journey through ancient Greek history.

Private yacht excursions arranged directly from the hotel’s jetty allow visitors to discover hidden beaches, nearby islands and world-famous kitesurfing locations across the Aegean Sea.

Architectural Elegance Inspired by Greek Tradition

Designed by acclaimed Greek architect Nicos Valsamakis, Four Seasons Hotel Mykonos embraces the timeless beauty of classic Cycladic architecture.

Spread across fifteen acres, the resort features ninety-four luxurious accommodations connected by shaded stone pathways, quiet courtyards and beautifully landscaped gardens. Every room and suite offers uninterrupted sea views, while many include private plunge pools seemingly flowing directly into the Aegean.

Sydney Harbour Marriott: Harbour Bridge Views, Five Star Comfort and an Unbeatable Sydney CBD Location

Sydney Harbour Marriott
Sydney offers no shortage of premium accommodation, but finding a hotel that genuinely combines an unbeatable location, spectacular harbour views, excellent dining, wellness facilities and authentic comfort for both business and leisure travellers is not always easy. During my recent stay at Sydney Harbour Marriott Hotel at Circular Quay, I found a property that delivered impressively across every category.

From the moment I arrived, the experience began on a positive note with a smooth, friendly and professional check-in. The elegant contemporary lobby immediately set the tone, combining polished five-star presentation with an atmosphere that felt genuinely warm and welcoming. It was a space that worked equally well for corporate guests arriving for meetings and travellers beginning a Sydney city escape.

My room on the 22nd floor, showcasing magnificent Sydney Harbour Bridge views, quickly became far more than simply a place to sleep. Between generous breakfasts, wellness sessions in the gym and pool, relaxing sauna visits and memorable pre-theatre dining, the hotel became an integral part of my Sydney experience.

An Unforgettable Sydney Harbour Bridge View

The moment I entered my room and looked out towards Sydney Harbour, I knew this stay would be something special.

Sydney Harbour Marriott
Positioned on the 22nd floor, my King Harbour Bridge View Room  offered sweeping views centred on the magnificent Sydney Harbour Bridge. Throughout the stay, the view constantly evolved. Early mornings brought soft light across the harbour waters, daytime showcased the energy of Sydney’s bustling waterfront, while evenings transformed the skyline into a glittering panorama of city lights.

There is something uniquely satisfying about waking up in the heart of Sydney and immediately being greeted by one of the world's most iconic landmarks.

The room itself complemented the scenery beautifully. Spacious, contemporary and thoughtfully designed, it offered the comfort and practicality expected from a premium Marriott property. The signature bedding provided excellent sleep quality, while the generous work desk, comfortable seating area, reliable high-speed Wi-Fi and elegant bathroom ensured the room catered equally well to productivity and relaxation.

Sydney Harbour Marriott
I particularly appreciated the large smart television, which allowed me to enjoy my preferred streaming entertainment after busy days in the city, adding a welcome sense of home-style comfort to the stay. The in-room pod coffee machine was another thoughtful inclusion, making it easy to prepare a quality coffee at my convenience while relaxing in the room and enjoying the remarkable harbour outlook.

For travellers blending work commitments with leisure experiences, this balance of comfort, technology and thoughtful amenities is particularly valuable, enhancing both the practicality and enjoyment of the overall guest experience.

Starting Each Day with Breakfast at Silvester's Restaurant

Breakfast quickly became a daily ritual rather than simply a necessity before heading out into the city.

Silvester's Breakfast Buffet
Each morning, I was warmly welcomed and shown to my table by the attentive staff before being offered a choice of hot drink, which was then brought directly to my table. For more coffee throughout breakfast, I also appreciated being able to help myself at the coffee machine, allowing me to enjoy additional hot drinks at my own pace.

The buffet selection was extensive, fresh and beautifully presented, offering an impressive range of choices that catered to virtually every taste and dietary preference. One thoughtful touch I particularly enjoyed was the unique offering brought to my table each morning by the attentive staff. On one morning, this included a delicious freshly prepared smoothie, adding a personalised and memorable element to the breakfast experience.

Silvester's Breakfast Buffet
The live egg station proved to be a standout feature, with chefs preparing a variety of freshly cooked egg dishes and omelettes made precisely to my order. The buffet also featured hot pancakes with a generous selection of toppings available to customise them exactly to individual tastes.

Beyond this, there was an extensive range of western and Asian styled hot breakfast dishes, ensuring plenty of variety from one morning to the next. I enjoyed the excellent selection of fruit juices, cereals and yoghurts, along with the wide assortment of breads available for toasting, complemented by numerous spreads and toppings.

Silvester's Breakfast Buffet
Fresh fruit was available in abundance, while the pastry selection offered tempting choices that I thoroughly enjoyed throughout my stay. Another welcome inclusion was the thoughtfully presented gluten free section, which demonstrated the hotel’s commitment to catering for diverse dietary requirements.

The provision of a daily newspaper to read over breakfast added a classic touch that enhanced the relaxed morning atmosphere. I also appreciated how promptly the staff removed used plates from my table, allowing me to comfortably wander back to the buffet and return with fresh selections without my table becoming cluttered. This attentive attention to detail enhanced the relaxed and seamless flow of the breakfast experience.

Silvester's Breakfast Buffet
I particularly appreciated the attentive service, comfortable setting and the convenience of enjoying such a comprehensive breakfast experience without needing to venture outside into the busy CBD streets.

For business travellers facing early schedules and leisure guests planning full days of Sydney exploration, the breakfast experience at Silvester's is unquestionably one of the genuine strengths of Sydney Harbour Marriott.

A Relaxing Wellness Routine: Gym, Indoor Pool and Sauna

One of the standout aspects of my stay was how easy Sydney Harbour Marriott made it to maintain a healthy wellness routine while travelling.

Sydney Harbour Marriott gym

Too often, busy city stays mean sacrificing exercise, relaxation and personal wellbeing. Here, I found myself genuinely enjoying the opportunity to incorporate the hotel’s wellness facilities into my daily schedule.

I made regular use of the well-equipped fitness centre, which offered quality cardio and strength equipment in a comfortable environment well suited to maintaining an active routine while away from home.

Sydney Harbour Marriott pool
After gym sessions, I spent time unwinding in the indoor heated swimming pool. The pool area provided a calm retreat from the constant energy of Sydney’s CBD. Whether enjoying a few refreshing laps or simply taking a quiet moment to decompress after a busy day of meetings, sightseeing or evening events, the pool added an important dimension of relaxation to the overall stay.

The sauna quickly became another personal favourite and evolved into an important part of my daily routine at the hotel. Following exercise or time spent in the pool, returning to the soothing warmth of the sauna was genuinely restorative. The heat helped ease tired muscles, release tension and create a welcome sense of slowing down, resetting and recharging after full days navigating Sydney’s attractions, business commitments and theatre engagements.

Sydney Harbour Marriott sauna
I also appreciated that the hotel provides separate men's and women's saunas, offering guests a comfortable and private wellness experience. Clean towels were readily available, a thoughtful touch that added to the convenience and overall sense of care within the facilities.

Beyond the physical wellness benefits, I valued the opportunity these facilities provided to simply pause and recharge mentally. In the middle of a demanding Sydney itinerary, those quieter moments of relaxation became surprisingly valuable.

For business travellers balancing meetings and deadlines, leisure guests exploring the city, and frequent travellers seeking a more rounded hotel experience, the gym, indoor heated pool and sauna facilities significantly enhance the appeal of Sydney Harbour Marriott, transforming it from simply premium accommodation into a genuinely restorative urban retreat.

Dinner at Silvester's Before an Evening at the Theatre

Sydney Harbour Marriott’s prime CBD location makes it an ideal base for theatregoers, concert patrons and event visitors.

Silvester’s Restaurant
During my stay, before attending an evening theatre performance, I dined at Silvester’s Restaurant — a decision I was very pleased with.

The restaurant strikes a pleasing balance between sophistication and comfort, while its identity is enriched by the fascinating heritage behind its name. Inspired by the historic Silvester Brothers, respected meat merchants who operated nearby for decades, the restaurant honours a longstanding tradition of quality produce and fine ingredients.

The menu is thoughtfully structured across small plates, starters, mains, sides and desserts, allowing diners to tailor the experience to appetite and occasion.

Silvester’s Restaurant
For my main course, I selected the Atlantic Salmon with Salmoriglio, while my dining companion chose the Wagyu Rump with Red Wine Jus. Both dishes were beautifully presented and accompanied by fresh salad and crisp shoestring fries. The salmon was perfectly cooked, moist and delicate, enhanced by the vibrant Mediterranean flavours of the Salmoriglio, while the Wagyu delivered exactly what one hopes for from a premium steak dish — tender, rich, flavoursome and deeply satisfying. The generous portion sizes and quality ingredients further reinforced Silvester’s commitment to refined modern Australian dining.

Silvester’s Restaurant

We accompanied the meal with a pale ale and ginger beer before finishing by sharing the Chocolate Hazelnut Mille-Feuille “Reimagined” with raspberry and beetroot ice cream — a memorable, beautifully executed and indulgently satisfying dessert that provided the perfect sweet conclusion to our dining experience.

One detail I particularly valued was the restaurant’s efficient and attentive service. With theatre tickets awaiting us, we requested prompt timing, and the team managed this perfectly without the meal feeling rushed or compromising the relaxed atmosphere of the evening.

The convenience of enjoying quality pre-theatre dining without needing to leave the hotel added enormous value to the evening and further enhanced the overall appeal of staying at Sydney Harbour Marriott.

A Sydney CBD Location Perfect for Business and Leisure Travellers

Location remains one of Sydney Harbour Marriott’s strongest advantages.

Sydney Harbour Marriott
Situated moments from Circular Quay, the hotel places guests within easy reach of Sydney’s most recognisable landmarks and commercial precincts.

Leisure travellers can quickly access the Sydney Opera House, The Rocks, harbour ferries, shopping, museums and waterfront dining, while business travellers benefit from close proximity to the financial district, office towers and conference venues.

Transport connections — including trains, ferries and light rail — are all conveniently nearby, simplifying movement throughout the city and airport transfers alike.

This strategic positioning allows guests to maximise their time in Sydney, whether focused on business, sightseeing or cultural experiences.

Why Sydney Harbour Marriott Stands Out in Sydney

Sydney Harbour Marriott

My recent stay at Sydney Harbour Marriott Hotel at Circular Quay delivered precisely what I seek in premium Sydney accommodation: an exceptional location, genuine comfort, world-class harbour views, quality dining and wellness facilities that meaningfully enhance the overall guest experience.

From waking each morning on the 22nd floor to spectacular Sydney Harbour Bridge views, to leisurely buffet breakfasts at Silvester’s, maintaining my fitness routine in the gym, relaxing in the indoor pool and sauna, and enjoying pre-theatre dining before an evening performance, the hotel delivered a Sydney experience that felt complete, polished and thoroughly enjoyable.

Sydney Harbour Marriott

For business travellers seeking convenience, leisure visitors pursuing iconic Sydney experiences, theatre lovers, international guests, conference delegates, or anyone wanting luxury accommodation positioned in the heart of the city, Sydney Harbour Marriott Hotel at Circular Quay is a property I would confidently recommend.

With its enviable Circular Quay location, impressive harbour outlooks, quality dining, comprehensive wellness facilities and attentive service, it remains a standout choice within Sydney’s premium hotel landscape and an ideal base from which to experience the very best of the Harbour City.
