On! in Sydney has never been more evident than in the line-up of
blockbuster events taking place this week. From world premiere
productions, to thrilling sporting pursuits, Destination NSW has your
guide to Sydney’s bumper events week.
Sydney International Rowing Regatta,
until Sunday 24 March: Featuring the Samsung Rowing World Cup, this is
the largest rowing event held in the southern hemisphere since the
Sydney 2000 Olympics.
War Horse,
Thursday 21 March to Saturday 30 June: The heart wrenching story of
Joey, the beloved horse of a boy called Albert, who is sold to the
cavalry at the outbreak of World War I and shipped to France. Playing at
the Lyric Theatre.
Sydney Royal Easter Show,
Thursday 21 March to Wednesday 3 April: Bringing the country to the
city each year to celebrate the best Australia has to offer, the Show
attracts close to 900,000 people - Australia's largest annual event.
Archibald Prize Exhibition,
Saturday 23 March to Sunday 2 June: The Archibald, Wynne and Sulman
Prizes is an annual exhibition held at the Art Gallery of NSW and
eagerly anticipated by artists and audiences alike. It never ceases to
create lively debate amongst the arts community and wider public.
BMW Sydney Carnival,
from Saturday 23 March: Sydney's premier racing carnival and a
world-class event held over six weeks in Autumn. The Carnival begins
this weekend with Ladies Day at Rosehill Gardens Racecourse.
Carmen - HANDA Opera on Sydney Harbour,
Saturday 23 March to Friday 12 April: Carmen takes the stage;
dangerous, sexy and incandescent in a thrilling new production set
against the stunning backdrop of Sydney Harbour.
The Addams Family, Saturday 23 March to Sunday 28 April:
The Addams Family, Broadway's smash hit musical comedy will make its
Australian premiere at the Capitol Theatre.
2014 FIFA World Cup Asia Qualifier, Qantas Socceroos v Oman, Tuesday 26 March: The Socceroos return to ANZ Stadium on their quest to qualify for the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil.
