Fiji Airways Welcomes New ATR Aircraft to Strengthen Regional and South Pacific Networks

Fiji Airways
Fiji Airways is celebrating the arrival of two new ATR 72-600 aircraft, marking a significant expansion in its fleet and a major boost to the airline’s regional and domestic connectivity. This expansion is designed to enhance travel options for passengers across Fiji and the broader South Pacific, supporting both domestic capacity and greater accessibility to regional communities, especially in Northern Fiji.

Boosting Domestic Connectivity

The first of the new ATR planes arrived late in 2024, with the second aircraft joining the fleet on January 5th, 2025. The addition of these two 68-seat aircraft will primarily be used on Fiji Airways' regional routes, connecting key destinations within Fiji’s Northern and Western divisions. Over time, the airline plans to add even more ATR aircraft to the fleet to further expand capacity and improve the frequency and efficiency of services.

The new planes will service vital domestic routes, including the popular Nadi-Suva and Nadi-Labasa routes, ensuring that local communities benefit from increased connectivity and more accessible travel options. This fleet expansion supports Fiji Airways' goal of strengthening its Nadi Hub by improving domestic connectivity and offering better travel experiences for passengers connecting between Fiji’s domestic and international services.

“We are committed to providing comfortable and efficient travel options for our passengers and enhancing connectivity between our islands,” said Andre Viljoen, CEO and Managing Director of Fiji Airways. “These two new ATR aircraft represent a significant investment in Fiji’s domestic connectivity, helping us meet the growing demand for domestic travel and ensuring we can provide capacity where it’s needed most.”

Fiji Link’s New Uniforms: A Unified Brand Identity

In addition to the fleet expansion, Fiji Airways' domestic and regional subsidiary, Fiji Link, has unveiled new uniforms for its staff. This change aligns with Fiji Airways’ signature uniform, reinforcing the airline's goal of presenting a unified, professional brand across all divisions. The new uniforms reflect the vibrant and modern image of Fiji Airways while celebrating the young cultural heritage of Fiji Link.

This uniform update is part of the airline’s broader strategy to enhance the customer experience by providing a cohesive visual identity for its team members. The new attire ensures that Fiji Airways and Fiji Link staff represent the highest standards of service, creating a seamless and consistent experience for passengers.

“We’re excited to introduce the new Fiji Link uniforms as part of our effort to standardise our brand across the airline,” said Viljoen. “This change reflects our commitment to excellence, professionalism, and a cohesive brand that will elevate the overall travel experience for our passengers.”
