Toga
Hotels is pleased to announce a second year of partnership with Opera
Australia, with Adina Apartment Hotels named Official Accommodation
Partner of Handa Opera on Sydney Harbour: Carmen.
Opening on 22th March, 2013 for an exclusive three week season, Carmen
is set to be one of Sydney's greatest outdoor extravaganzas this year. A
nightly audience of 3,000, seated at the edge of The Royal Botanic
Gardens will enjoy a Spanish themed setting while they watch the drama
of Carmen unfold beneath the stars.
Before the show and during interval, audiences will be flocking to The Adina Garden Bar. Situated on the southern end of the site, The Adina Garden Bar offers magnificent harbour views and is the perfect spot for a relaxing refreshment and light snack.
Rachel
Argaman, CEO of Toga Hotels, said, "Toga Hotels is thrilled to be
working again this year with Opera Australia. The partnership with Handa
Opera on the Harbour: Carmen compliments Toga's arts focused suite of partnerships. As was the case with last year's smash hit La Traviata, Carmen is set to wow! The event is a drawcard, helping to attract more visitors to the city each year."
Travelling
to and from the performance will be a breeze for opera goers from Adina
Apartment Hotels across Sydney's CBD (Adina Apartment Hotel Sydney;
Adina Apartment Hotel Sydney, Central; Adina Apartment Hotel Sydney,
Crown Street; Adina Apartment Hotel Chippendale and Adina Apartment
Hotel Sydney, Harbourside). Adina guests can make a special night of it
with the flexibility and space to explore Sydney at their own pace
before the show, relax in their own private lounge room over a glass of
red for post-show musings and enjoy a relaxing sleep-in the next
morning.
This is the second year that Opera Australia has
presented the outdoor opera event, Handa Opera on Sydney Harbour, which
won four Helpmann Awards and two Australian Event Awards for its
inaugural staging of La Traviata in 2012. This year promises to
be even better with a stellar international cast, more fireworks and
spectacular sets, costumes, dancing and singing. This spectacular new
outdoor production features a custom-designed stage measuring 32 x 24
metres, which will literally sit over the water and resemble a
blood-stained bullfighting ring. Giant Hollywood-style letters will
spell out Carmen as part of the set, measuring a staggering 13 metres high and 25 metres wide.
Opera
Australia's Artistic Director, Lyndon Terracini says, "Opera Australia
is proud to showcase such a strong international cast in this world
class production of Carmen. This year's production of Handa Opera on Sydney Harbour: Carmen
is set to continue the tradition established in 2012 of attracting
interstate and international audiences to this uniquely Sydney event,
which is unlike anything you can experience anywhere else in the world."
Toga's
current partnership suite includes ongoing relationships with
organisations such as Sydney Theatre Company, Sydney Festival and the
Australian Chamber Orchestra.
