Handcrafted Design Inspired By Nineteenth Century Exploration
The 1896 Cabin has been meticulously crafted using authentic materials and period-inspired design elements to recreate the atmosphere of late nineteenth-century seafaring life.
The 28-square-metre space features handcrafted wooden interiors designed to echo classic expedition ships, with more than 140 individual timber components incorporated into the build.
The craftsmanship behind the cabin is extraordinary. Recycled old oak planks have been used extensively throughout the flooring, while reclaimed timber sourced from traditional threshing barns forms much of the wall and ceiling construction.
In total, the project required an impressive 309 working hours to complete.
Perhaps most remarkably, some of the timber originates from an old cabin in Germany, adding genuine historical character and a tangible connection to Europe’s architectural past.
