The Sisters of Mercy Convent in Singleton is the Motherhouse of the Sisters of Mercy in the Hunter Valley.
Sacred Spaces have opened their
extensive buildings and spacious gardens for the use and enjoyment of
the wider community in the hope that the Convent can be preserved as a
sacred heritage. A series of musical showcases will be held throughout 2013 to which everyone is invited. Details of these Sacred Spaces Fine Music Concerts are listed below.
Sunday, 21 April at 2pm “DOU GUIVIO”
Giuseppe Sangari (Guitar) and Victoria Jacono-Gilmovich
(Violin) will present an afternoon of delightful and eclectic works
written and arranged for violin and guitar. It will feature a fusion of
French, Italian and Latin classics, together with newly composed
Australian compositions.
Sunday, 21 July at 2pm ‘A-cappella Heaven”
Sydney’s premier female a-cappella ensemble, Endeavour Harmony Chorus, will present a concert in the Chapel called “A-cappella Heaven”. Their
repertoire includes modern ballards, old jazz standards, musical hits,
60’s favourites, gospel, traditional, swing, blues and comedy.
Sunday, 29 September at 2pm “FROM RUSSIA WITH SONG”
Lilija
Stille (soprano), Robert Harris (viola) and Irina Klamka (piano) will
present “From Russia with Song”, incorporating an afternoon of beautiful
song and instrumental pieces from Russia.
TICKETS for
each concert includes afternoon tea: $25 adults, $20 concession, $5
school students. Reservations are recommended to guarantee seating.
