Take a Step into the Sole of Singapore

Australian fashion designer Sue Di Chio of Suboo has launched the brand's first ever limited edition collection, inspired by the cosmopolitan city of Singapore. This stylish set titled 'The Emerald Hill Singapore Collection' comprises of a striking Sandal and Shoulder Bag.

Embodying casual chic, both items in the collection are perfect for discovering Singapore, with the comfortable sandal allowing you to explore the vibrant city on foot and a bag that is big enough to hold the essentials but small and fashionable to carry all day.

Suboo's unique bag and sandal design was inspired by Sue's recent visit to Singapore. She hopes the design will showcase a different side of Singapore, as well as encourage more Aussies to put the destination on their to-do-list and when they get there delve further beneath the skin of the city to deepen their discovery.

The unique print featured on both the "Emerald Hill Singapore Collection" sandal and bag was inspired by the colour, culture and creativity behind Singapore's Peranakan[1] heritage. A key feature of the design is the colourful windows and louvered shutters which can be found along Emerald Hill - one of the many hidden gems of Singapore, providing an almost secret sanctuary from the dynamic shopping of the city.

The design also features a number of subtle floral prints and gold detailing, influenced by Singapore's cultural precincts of Kampong Glam, Little India and Chinatown, all discovered by Suboo on her recent trip.

Sue Di Chio, Fashion Designer of Suboo comments, "The cultural precincts of Singapore truly are the heart and soul of Singapore, exploding with colour and creativity. Arab Street in Kampong Glam is a feast for the senses with an array of perfume shops, restaurants and in the centre of it all; the historic Sultan Mosque."

"Little India was one of the most vibrant and authentic districts of Singapore. As we took in the sights, sounds and smells we couldn't resist buying brightly coloured garland flowers and handmade trinkets that filled rows of market stalls."

Both the sandal and bag have been designed in Australia and are finished with leather trimmings and gold embossed detailing. Suboo has complemented neon yellow with the artistic print; as this season's hottest colour it also reflects the energy, heat and excitement of Singapore. The Emerald Hill Singapore Collection is the ultimate travel companion, beautifully representing the mix of old and new and east meets west while staying true to Suboo's brand philosophy.

"Whether shopping in the myriad of shopping areas, sipping a cocktail on Sentosa Island or exploring the colourful cultural precincts, Singapore has something for everyone. The Emerald Hill Singapore collection are the perfect fashion accessories for exploring and taking you from day to night," says Sue Di Chio.

Sandra Leong, Area Manager of Oceania for the Singapore Tourism Board states "We are so excited by our partnership with Suboo.  Sue has created a wonderful design that truly reflects the lesser-known side of Singapore.  Through our partnership with Suboo we are encouraging Australians to explore and discover the real Singapore, and what better way to do that than on foot, in a stylish pair of sandals and with a bag that represents what the city is all about."
