Newcastle International Airport Expects More Traffic in 2013

Newcastle International Airport in the UK is gearing up for a busy year ahead as it aims to be the most welcoming airport in the United Kingdom.

The region’s largest airport is already flying high following a successful 2012 and got the year off to a great start with the launch of its new customer-friendly website. The airport also recently installed new customer feedback machines in the security area to check whether its customers are ‘Happy or Not’. The high-tech devices feedback results to the airport team regularly to ensure that customers are getting the best experience possible.

Dave Laws, Chief Executive of Newcastle International Airport, said: “Last year was a great year for the airport as well as the North East travelling public. We secured a number of new routes to sought-after destinations, were honored with the AOA Award for best UK airport under six million passengers for the fourth year in the row and welcomed a 50% increase in seats on our Emirates service to Dubai with the 428-seat Boeing 777.

“We also officially opened our £3.2 million terminal development - with improved security search facilities, and welcomed our new 49% shareholder, AMP Capital.

“This year is already off to a fantastic start. Our new website - with improved usability for passengers and a more visual feel - has gained very positive feedback from users and our results from our ‘Happy or Not’ machines show that we’re providing excellent customer service to our passengers day in, day out.

“As well as reaffirming our dedication to excellent customer service, we recently announced that Maggie’s in the North East as our adopted charity for 2013 and 2014 so we’ll be getting involved in lots of fundraising activities over the coming months which is very exciting. We’re also looking to the future and are in the process of redeveloping our master plan strategy which will show our aspirations up to 2030. We look forward to celebrating 10 years with easyJet this year too.

“Our aim is to be the most welcoming airport in the UK and this year, we’re going above and beyond once again for our customers.”
