Qantas Domestic Takes 2012 Title for Most Punctual Airline

Qantas
Figures released by the Australian Bureau of Infrastructure, Transport and Regional Economics (BITRE) confirm Qantas as the most punctual domestic airline in the country.

Leading the board in both on-time departures and arrivals, the statistics also highlighted Qantas as the airline with the fewest cancellations for the year.

The annual figures released by BITRE mark the fourth year in a row that Qantas has averaged a better on-time domestic performance than its main domestic competitor.

Qantas Group CEO, Alan Joyce said Qantas was incredibly proud of their on-time performance and see it as a direct result of the time and resources that have been dedicated to improving it.

"We understand that getting to your destination on time is very important for our customers, particularly our business passengers who rely on us to get them to meetings," Mr Joyce said.

"Qantas makes a significant investment in improving our punctuality and the effort our crews put in during 2012 is clear to see."

Qantas led the competition in 9 of the 12 months for the calendar year (including one tie) and averaged an 85.9% for on-time departures - 2.6% more than their competitor. This equates to over 3,000 flights and almost half a million more passengers being on time.
