The village of Kandos, in the Mudgee region, will host a
new contemporary arts festival, Cementa_13, from 1-14 February 2013.
The festival program will feature 40 artists and includes
exhibits, guided tours, sound and video installations, performances and film
nights.
Guided hikes through the surrounding natural escarpment,
art-themed bicycle tours and local food and wine will also feature during the
festival.
The festival name, Cementa_13, takes inspiration from the
village’s history as a former cement works site and the festival aims to engage
with the materials and people of Kandos over four days and nights. The festival
will be an independent biennial event celebrating contemporary art in
Australia.
Venues for the festival include Kandos’ Spanish mission
architecture buildings, shop-fronts, halls, clubhouses, the golf-course,
bushland and escarpments.
