Sydney theatre audiences are getting ready for a royal takeover as the internationally acclaimed SIX the Musical arrives at Theatre Royal Sydney. Following rave reviews and sold-out performances in Melbourne, this award-winning musical transforms the stories of the six wives of King Henry VIII into an electrifying pop concert filled with powerful vocals, infectious music, dazzling costumes and an empowering message.
The official Sydney opening night is Wednesday 14 October 2026, with purple carpet arrivals beginning at 6.30 pm. The Sydney season runs until 20 December before the production heads to Brisbane in January 2027.
Six Tudor Queens Become Modern Pop Icons
Forget the traditional history lesson. SIX reimagines Catherine of Aragon, Anne Boleyn, Jane Seymour, Anna of Cleves, Katherine Howard and Catherine Parr as contemporary pop stars, each stepping into the spotlight to tell her own story.
Written by Toby Marlow and Lucy Moss, the fast-paced musical runs for approximately 80 minutes, remixing five centuries of royal history into a high-energy theatrical experience.
Rather than allowing the six women to be remembered only through their relationship with Henry VIII, the show gives each queen a voice, personality and musical identity. Their stories explore love, heartbreak, ambition, resilience and the struggle to be heard.
The result is a fresh take on historical storytelling that appeals to established musical theatre fans as well as audiences looking for an exciting introduction to live theatre.

The performers are supported by swings Lauren Goetz and Geena Hutton, alongside returning cast members Thalia Smith and Cristina D’Agostino. An accomplished live band provides the musical backing, with Australian Associate Director Sharon Millerchip leading the company.
An International Musical Theatre Phenomenon
Since its debut at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in 2017, SIX has grown into a worldwide success, with productions across the West End, Broadway, Australia, North America, Europe and Asia.
The musical has won 38 international awards, including two Tony Awards, and its platinum-certified soundtrack has attracted more than 5.5 billion listens. The production reaches more than 3.5 million fans annually, reflecting its remarkable international following.
Its popularity extends beyond the stage through the online Queendom community, where fans share performances, artwork and favourite songs across digital platforms.
The creative team includes directors Lucy Moss and Jamie Armitage, choreographer Carrie-Anne Ingrouille, set designer Emma Bailey, costume designer Gabriella Slade, lighting designer Tim Deiling and sound designer Paul Gatehouse.
