Laos Tourism 2030: Culture, Digital Travel and Better Guides Set to Transform the Visitor Experience

Digital tourism Laos
Laos is preparing a new chapter for tourism, combining its rich cultural identity with digital technology, distinctive souvenirs and improved training for tourism professionals.

In a move designed to strengthen Laos tourism promotion ahead of 2030, the Tourism Marketing and Promotion Department of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism signed cooperation agreements with HTH Import-Export Sole Co., Ltd., MATT Sole Co., Ltd. and LS Education Center in Vientiane Capital on August 18, 2026.

The initiative brings government and local businesses together to make travelling in Laos more attractive, accessible and professionally supported for both domestic and international visitors.

Taking Lao Culture Home Through Souvenirs

For many travellers, a holiday memory continues long after returning home through a special souvenir.

Under the new cooperation, HTH Import-Export Sole Co., Ltd. will work on souvenirs featuring the White Elephant symbol, an important element of Lao cultural identity. The initiative is intended not only to create additional economic value but also to introduce more visitors to Lao culture through products they can take home.

For tourists exploring Laos, such souvenirs can provide a meaningful connection with the country's heritage while supporting local tourism-related business.

A More Digital Way to Discover Laos

Technology is also becoming an increasingly important part of the Laos travel experience.

The agreement with MATT Sole Co., Ltd. focuses on digital tourism, including the Meekula.com website and a tourism application. The digital initiative is intended to modernise tourism promotion and make information about Laos more accessible to travellers.

Digital tourism can make it easier for visitors to discover destinations, plan experiences and access travel information before and during their journeys.

Better Trained Guides for International Visitors

A destination's attractions are only part of the travel experience. Knowledgeable and professional guides can help visitors better understand local history, culture and traditions.

LS Education Center is involved in strengthening tourism human resources through training in foreign languages, tourism marketing and professional communication. The goal is to improve the quality of tourism services and help professionals communicate more effectively with visitors from different countries.

For international tourists, stronger language and communication skills can make cultural experiences more informative and enjoyable.

Supporting Laos Tourism Towards 2030

The three partnerships support Laos's 2026–2030 Culture and Tourism Development Plan and reflect a broader effort to modernise tourism while maintaining the country's distinctive cultural character. Officials described the agreements as an important step in public-private cooperation to improve tourism promotion and service quality.

Laos has also been experiencing strong tourism momentum. Tourism Laos reported nearly 2.6 million international visitors during the first half of 2026, with Thailand, China and Vietnam among the country's largest source markets.

A Fresh Future for Travelling in Laos

Signing cooperation agreements
From the historic streets of Luang Prabang and the Mekong River to Vientiane, mountain landscapes and traditional villages, Laos offers travellers a combination of nature, culture and authentic experiences.

The new partnerships show how Laos is looking beyond simply attracting more visitors. By connecting cultural products, digital technology and professional tourism training, the country is working towards a more modern and competitive visitor experience as it moves towards 2030.
