Combining live entertainment, themed carriages, colourful costumes and plenty of rock ’n’ roll nostalgia, the Elvis Express has become one of the most popular ways to begin the annual celebration of the King of Rock and Roll.
The 2027 journey will mark a special occasion, with the Parkes Elvis Festival celebrating 50 years since Elvis Presley's passing under the theme Elvis On Tour.
A Rock ’n’ Roll Send-Off at Sydney Central Station
The Elvis Express experience begins before passengers board the train, with a farewell performance by Elvis Tribute Artists on the Grand Concourse at Sydney Central Station.
Fans can expect a lively atmosphere as costumed travellers gather for the early morning departure, creating a colourful spectacle for passengers, visitors and media.
The train is scheduled to depart Sydney Central Station at approximately 8.30 am on Wednesday 6 January, with entertainment continuing throughout the journey to Parkes.
For many passengers, the train ride is an essential part of the festival experience, offering the chance to meet fellow Elvis enthusiasts and start celebrating before arriving in the Central West.

The Graceland Express, All Shook Up Shuttle, Burning Love Bullet, Viva Las Vegas Line and Priscilla's Place provide distinctive settings for the journey.
Live music and onboard entertainment help transform the regular rail trip into a rolling rock ’n’ roll celebration, with passengers encouraged to embrace the occasion through Elvis-inspired outfits, sequins and iconic jumpsuits.
Parkes Elvis Festival Director Brendan Shipley says the excitement begins at Central Station and continues all the way to Parkes, making the Elvis Express an unforgettable introduction to the festival.
Arrive for the 2027 Parkes Elvis Festival
The Elvis Express will arrive in Parkes for the opening day of the festival, which runs from 6 to 10 January 2027.
More than 30,000 visitors are expected to attend the five-day event, featuring more than 200 performances and activities celebrating Elvis's music and enduring cultural influence.
