Your Ultimate Guide to Exploring the Vivid Sydney 2025 Festival from Circular Quay and The Rocks

Each winter, Sydney swaps its sunlit sparkle for something even more dazzling. From 23 May to 14 June, Vivid Sydney returns with 23 nights of electric art, soul-stirring music, bright ideas, and unforgettable dining experiences. Whether you’re travelling from near or far, this immersive festival invites you to see the city in a new light—literally.

This year’s theme, Dream, stretches across five creatively reimagined precincts, but for this guide, we’re grounding ourselves in the vibrant heart of the action: Circular Quay and The Rocks. This historic harbour zone is where Vivid Sydney’s magic hums at full voltage, with every laneway, façade, and ferry wharf part of the show.

Circular Quay and The Rocks

Lights: Colour The City – ASN Clock Tower, The Rocks
Vivid has always celebrated public creativity, and this year’s Colour The City installation puts that spirit on display. Submit your own digitally coloured artwork by April 16 and you could see it projected on the ASN Clock Tower. This rotating gallery in light brings over 100 community creations to life each week, blending childhood wonder with big-city spectacle.

Beats: Mount Kimbie – Sydney Opera House, Bennelong Point
For a night of hypnotic beats and boundary-pushing sound, grab a ticket to Mount Kimbie at the Joan Sutherland Theatre. Once known for their moody electronic soundscapes, the group now delivers a live experience that weaves shoegaze, indie, and experimental rock into an unpredictable, deeply immersive performance.

Bites: Dance of Dreams with Danielle Alvarez – Yallamundi Room, Sydney Opera House
Chef Danielle Alvarez fuses fine dining with live performance in this truly one-of-a-kind event. Inspired by the dreamscape theme, her menu is matched with contemporary dance, music, and visual projections. Each course becomes part of the performance, offering a memorable exploration of flavour and storytelling.

Neon Nights: Pullman Quay Grand Sydney Harbour – 61 Macquarie Street
After a night of cultural indulgence, rest your head at Pullman Quay Grand. This luxury hotel places you at the centre of the action and offers some of the best Vivid views in town. From your suite, you can see the Sydney Harbour Bridge lit up in the Sweet Dreams on the Pylon installation and watch Vincent Namatjira’s powerful King Dingo projection animate the Museum of Contemporary Art.
