| VIVID Sydney |
Each year, Sydney sheds its familiar skin and transforms into a living canvas of light, music and ideas. From 23 May to 14 June, Vivid Sydney 2025 will once again electrify the city with immersive installations, projection art, live performances and thought-provoking talks. It’s not just an event—Vivid is a season, a mood, and a new way to see Australia’s most iconic city.
Light Walks That Lead You to Wonder
The heart of Vivid lies in its Light Walk, stretching from Circular Quay to Barangaroo and beyond. After dusk, landmarks such as the Sydney Opera House, Sydney Harbour Bridge and Customs House are reimagined through dazzling projections and interactive displays. Each night, thousands wander the harbourside to explore over 50 light installations designed by artists from around the globe.
From large-scale architectural projections to smaller, tucked-away surprises in city laneways, the light art is curated to engage all ages and perspectives. This year’s theme focuses on nature, renewal and the connection between technology and human emotion.
Sounds That Echo Through the Streets
Vivid Music returns with a bold line-up of concerts, DJ sets and pop-up gigs in unexpected places. From major acts at Carriageworks and the Sydney Opera House to underground shows in intimate venues, the soundtrack of Vivid is as diverse as the city itself. Jazz, electronic, soul, indie and experimental sounds fill the air, inviting visitors to explore both big names and rising talents.
Ideas That Ignite Conversations
Beyond the spectacle, Vivid Ideas brings depth to the festival through panels, talks and workshops. Featuring visionaries from the worlds of design, tech, media, science and culture, these sessions explore the big questions of our time. In 2025, topics will span sustainability, digital futures and creativity in the age of AI.
It’s an opportunity to be inspired, challenged and connected—not just entertained.
Best Ways to Experience Vivid
While walking is the most popular way to take in the festival, there are also harbour cruises, rooftop vantage points and guided experiences available. Visitors are encouraged to use public transport, as roads around key precincts become busy during peak hours.
Plan to dress warmly and wear comfortable shoes. Many installations are interactive, so a hands-on spirit is just as essential as a good camera.
