Australians are being encouraged to show their support
for Queensland tourism by celebrating 'Australia Day II' on 23 February.
As the weather eases and the clean-up gets underway,
those who spent Australia Day cooped up inside watching movies and playing
Scrabble can do their bit by experiencing Queensland back at its best.
Get out the lamb chops because Sam Kekovich has come on
board as the Australia Day II ambassador, with a variety of print, online, TV
and radio promotions rolling out across the country in coming weeks.
There's no long weekend this time, but visitors can make
the most of the newly crowned patriotic day with a range of events happening
across the state.
Big Day Out may traditionally be the Australia Day
festival, but Australia Day II is all about the Agnes Water Blues and Roots
Festival. The laidback beachside town on the Southern Great Barrier Reef will
be buzzing over the music-filled weekend with the biggest line-up yet.

There's no place better to immerse yourself in Aussie
surf culture than on the Gold Coast. Currumbin will come alive on 23 February
with stalls from The Village Markets, live music, theatre workshops, and the
Alley Fish-Fry (a celebration of surfboards in all shapes and sizes) during
Bleach* Boulevard - a free event, part of the 10-day Bleach* Festival.

Up in the Whitsundays, the sun was shining for Hayman's
annual Australia Day BBQ this year but in True Blue Aussie spirit, they've
decided to do it all again for Australia Day II. Hayman will be recreating
their famous seafood BBQ around the iconic pool for guests on Saturday 23
February. www.hayman.com.au

On the Fraser Coast, council is working with community
groups to reignite washed-out celebrations across the region, including a big
Aussie breakfast in Maryborough, a seven-a-side cricket tournament at Munna
Creek, live music by the beach in Hervey bay, and toad races in Boonooro. The
Fraser Coast Australia Day Awards and Citizenship Ceremony will also be held on
Australia Day II.
