Audiences can experience 12 days of extraordinary cinema from Australia and around the globe with a vibrant program of 200+ of the most cutting-edge feature films, documentaries and shorts from the world's best filmmakers, showing in venues throughout Sydney. SFF-goers can also be part of live cinematically themed events and talks that interrogate and celebrate our industry.
In 2023, filmmakers can anticipate a record-breaking prize pool across a host of categories, and join the ranks of former winners like Bong Joon-ho, Jane Campion, Phillip Noyce and Gillian Armstrong!
As the Festival enters its 70th year, director Nashen Moodley said, "SFF is thrilled to continue the momentum of seven decades of presenting the very best in global filmmaking, introducing new and pertinent voices to Australian viewers, and welcoming audiences from near and far to its milestone celebration in June.”

The first titles in this year’s 70th SFF program will be announced on Wednesday 5 April, and audiences can expect the full Festival program to be revealed in May.
SFF film-lovers can attend the Festival across Greater Sydney with screenings in the stunning State Theatre, Event Cinemas George Street, Dendy Cinemas Newtown, Randwick Ritz, Hayden Orpheum Picture Palace Cremorne, Palace Cinemas Central and Norton Street, Art Gallery of NSW, Casula Powerhouse, the Festival Hub at Sydney Town Hall and SFFTV in Martin Place.
