Go on and take a bow

These stunning red-crowned cranes are an iconic symbol of Hokkaido. Between November and March each year they perform courtship dances as a part of a mating ritual. 

The pairs mate for life and their dances are a mesmerising display of beauty and grace.
 
One of the best places to view them is the Kushiro Marshland in Kushiroshitsugen National Park. 

The red-crowned crane was once thought to have been extinct but through conservation efforts in places like this, this species has made an impressive recovery. 

It is vital to protect these beautiful birds and their environment so that future generations can enjoy their presence in the wild.
