Da Nang inaugurates the expanded APEC Statue Garden Park

On January 10th, 2022, People’s Committee of Hai Chau District (Da Nang) has organised an inauguration ceremony for the expanded APEC Statue Garden Park after a year of construction and is expected to become a cultural and tourist destination which inherits its own features of the city.

The project holds an important political and social significance to celebrate the 22nd Congress of the Party Committee of Da Nang, 2020-2025 term, the 13th National Congress of the Party and the 25th anniversary Da Nang City became the municipality (01/01/1997 – 01/01/2022).

The APEC Statue Garden Park is expanded with the total area of 8,668m², the construction density is 32.8%; consists of 1 basement, ground floor, 1st floor, located on the banks of the Han river with the highlight of the unique dome ‘flying kite’.

The construction complex consists of a basement, which encloses public parking area, an infrastructure system and technical room; there are relaxing area, souvenir shops, tourist information service counter for visitors, and public toilet area on the ground floor; on 2nd floor, a community living space area, trees, ramps, sidewalks and lake.

The concept of the dome is designed as a flying kite symbol, fabricated and installed with approximately 200 tons of raw steel. The significance of the dome is to spread the continuous changing of the urban surface side by side with the dynamic city scale of the Central Region.

The expanded APEC Statue Garden Park was invested in construction following the Decision 2229/QĐ-UBND on 22nd of June 2020 of Da Nang People’s Committee with the total investment budget of VND 759 billion from the city budget fund.
