Sydney Airport Chief Executive Officer, Kerrie Mather, presented the donation to Salvation Army Territorial Commander, Commissioner James Condon, and Sydney Airport Chaplaincy Coordinator, Major Joanne Slater, at Sydney Airport.
“Sydney Airport has a long history of supporting the Salvation Army, which provides chaplaincy services and on-call support for emergencies at the airport,” Sydney Airport Chief Executive Officer, Kerrie Mather, said.
“The Salvation Army does vital work in our community, helping more than one million people in need through food assistance; financial counselling; drug, alcohol and gambling rehabilitation services; skills development; and job placement.
“We hope this donation will ensure the Salvos reach their national fundraising goal of $80 million this year.
“I encourage staff, passengers and visitors to the airport to also consider making a donation to the Red Shield Appeal over the coming days.
“Volunteers will be collecting donations at the airport from 6am to 6pm from today until Sunday.”
Commissioner Condon thanked Sydney Airport for its contribution.
“This donation from Sydney Airport will make a real difference to the lives of people in need,” Commissioner Condon said.
“We thank Sydney Airport for their support and contribution to this important cause.”
Donation collection points are located at T1 Departures wall, T2 escalators after Security and at T3.
