Roadhop |
Roadhop was created by travellers, for travellers. It is an
ongoing project to map different modes of intercity non-flight transportation
e.g. bus/train routes around the world. Roadhop can help travellers get around
by train in Asia Pacific.
One day almost two years ago the creator of the website and
his sister were terribly lost in a remote part of Vietnam without any clue of how to
get to their next destination.
Singapore |
Speaking of alternative forms of transportation, the world
welcomed her 7 billionth member last year. With a rapidly growing population,
roads are increasingly filled with traffic. Infrastructure constraints also
mean that not every city has an airport, so flying is not always possible.
There is a demand for more efficient ways of getting from one city to another
beyond driving and flying.
That was when they thought of the audacious idea to map a
"transport database system" (http://roadhop.com). Their aim was to provide schedules,
ticket fares and station locations of long distance and interstate
bus/trains/ferry from both travellers and companies around the world. To organize
all the information, they made a search engine to help travellers find out how
to get from one city to another via surface transport in an easy way. Right
now, they have all train routes in Singapore,
Malaysia, Thailand, Philippines
and Vietnam
and they would like to find out where to go next! They would like to
invite readers from South East Asia to write
to them to let them know which is their favourite form of transportation, so
they can help them get to their favourite destination!

They hope you can lend a hand by sharing some information
with other travellers.

1. Photos of bus or train timetables and fare tables, with date and place taken (especially for remote locations)
2. Photos of bus/train conditions of your rides
Please email wyn@roadhop.com. A bulletin board of all user contributions will be up soon.
