The Sears (Willis) Tower |
Many believe that Chicago is
the greatest city in the United
States, and I stand firmly with this group.
Although I might be a bit biased since I grew up in the city, I truly believe
there is nowhere better to visit in the United
States than Chicago.
The main hub of the Midwest, everyone should visit Chicago at least once. I’ve had many college
friends come home with me to visit Chicago
for the first time and they immediately fell in love with the city. Friends and
relatives agree that while New York City also
has a lot to offer, Chicago
is much cleaner and the public transportation is very punctual!
While most of my friends and other visitors to the city
can’t stop talking about how great the deep dish pizza is, there is more to Chicago than the
outstanding food. Here are 5 attractions that you have to visit on your next
trip to Chicago:
The Art Institute of Chicago |
1. The Sears (Willis) Tower- The tallest building in
the country and seventh largest in the world, a trip to Chicago would not be complete without a trip
to the observation deck. You can enjoy breathtaking views of the city while
enjoying a cup of coffee or souvenir shopping. They also have an exhibit where
you step out into a glass cube and can look directly down (as a side note, do
not do this exhibit if you have a fear of heights).
2. The Art Institute of Chicago- If you enjoy museums or art, you
have to make a visit to the Art Institute of Chicago. They have dozens of
exhibits and masterpieces that will keep you entertained for hours.
Millennium Park |
3. Millennium
Park- Millennium
Park in Chicago is like the Central Park of New York
City; a giant park in the middle of a major, urban city. There are plenty of
concerts during the summer and ice skating during the winter. You also need to
take your photo in front of the giant reflective bean; it allows you to get the
skyline of the city in the background.
Navy Pier |
4. Navy Pier- This is the most popular tourist
attraction in Chicago!
Right on the beautiful Lake Michigan, there
are plenty of attractions, restaurants, and shops to keep you entertained all
day. You have several options for boat tours and evening dinner cruises along Lake Michigan as well. Don’t forget to ride the Ferris
wheel; an icon of Navy Pier!
Michigan Avenue & Water Tower Place |
5. Michigan
Avenue and Water Tower Place- If you
enjoy shopping during your vacation, there is no better place to do so than Michigan Avenue.
Grab a cup of coffee to recharge, since there are hundreds of shops on Michigan Avenue and
at Water Tower Place.
Even if you just enjoy window shopping, Michigan Avenue is the perfect place to
spend a few hours walking around to absorb the beautiful scenery of Chicago!
