Superbowl Lucas Oil Stadium |
Indianapolis
was excited to host the Superbowl for the first time at Lucas Oil Stadium. As the big event approached, many joked that the only activities in Indianapolis would surround the Superbowl
village and the various concerts that were going on. While there were several
major events and parties dedicated solely for the Superbowl, Indianapolis had much more to offer as well.

NCAA headquarters |
Did you know that the NCAA headquarters are in Indianapolis? Not only
are the headquarters a fun place to check out, but you can also check out the
Hall of Champions just next door. The hall of champions is more than an
interactive museum; it’s a place any college sports fan needs to visit. I
highly suggest trying out their interactive soccer game and the fast pitch
softball demo. If college sports aren’t your think, Indianapolis is home to the famous Indy 500
race. Check out the stadium and stop by the museum to see cool racecars and
memorabilia. If you would rather shop, you need to visit circle center mall.
You can walk several blocks without stepping outside via walkways that connect
the mall. Indianapolis
also is home to several museums and a great zoo!

Oceanaire |
When thinking of meccas for great food, you usually think of
Chicago or New York,
but Indianapolis
has great food as well! If you have a favorite chain restaurant, you are sure
to find it in Indianapolis!
In addition to hundreds of chain restaurants, there are several great local
restaurants you need to try as well. For seafood, you must try the Oceanaire
right in the heart of downtown. If you do go there, make sure to save room for
dessert! They have an amazing key lime pie with slices large enough to feed 2-3
people. If you are a steak lover, going to St. Elmo’s is a rite of passage.
During Superbowl week, you will need to make a reservation unless you want to
wait for hours. If you enjoy pizza, head up to broad ripple and try Bazbeaux!
Their pizza is loaded with tons of cheese and toppings and is nothing short of
d
elicious.

Broad Ripple Avenue
|
If you are looking for a good nightlife scene, Broad Ripple Avenue
is where you need to go! Many will argue and say the downtown bars such as
Kilroys and Taps & Dolls are more fun, and it really depends on your scene.
The bars in Broad Ripple will have a younger crowd, especially considering the
proximity to Butler
University. If you do
decide to go out on Broad Ripple
Avenue, I highly suggest stopping at Brothers Bar
and Grill and Rock Lobster. Brothers has a good crowd and is a great place to
converse with a large group over drinks. Average Joes Tavern is also a great
place to converse over drinks. Once you are ready to dance, Rock Lobster is
where you need to head to. If Rock Lobster is too crowded, the Vogue usually
has a DJ or special performance. Just be prepared to pay cover to get in.

Downtown Indianapolis |
I hope these tips help you make the most of your trip to Indianapolis! One final
tip I can give you is to dress warmly; the Midwest
is cold in February & March! If you plan on tailgating, pack an extra fleece or jacket,
gloves, socks, and ear warmers to prevent frost bite. After a few drinks, you
might not notice how cold you really are.
