The Upper Hunter Show how will be held at the Muswellbrook Showground, Rutherford Road, Muswellbrook, NSW Australia on Friday 23 and Saturday 24th March 2012.
Side Show Alley
Many new and old amusement rides will be in Side Show Alley with gentle rides for the little ones to hair-raising rides for the thrill seekers. Some of Australia’s biggest and best rides will appear at the Upper Hunter Show before they head off to Sydney for the Royal Easter Show. New to the Show this year is ‘The Claw’ ride, which will be sure to spin you out! ‘The Speed’ ride is 40 metres high, and you sit on one end of a spin car that rotates at 80km/h. You get spun out in every direction possible. One of the worlds largest Dodgem Car Circuits, complete with 30 cars, a bigger floor space to race around in, and LED lights and music will be at the Show.

A feature of the show will be the “Bursting with Energy Expo”. Here people will be given the opportunity to drive am mine truck simulator in return for a gold coin donation which will be given to the Muswellbrook Hospital Auxiliary. There will also be special guests, including the Vox Bandicoot environmental theatre show and magical roving characters. There will be various displays, including fun, hands-on interactive displays and mining equipment displays. Prizes will be given to children for participation and much more. “The Bursting with Energy Expo” is a collaborative imitative for the locals community proudly presented by the local coal mining and energy industry. Sponsors are Anglo American, Bengalla, bhpbilliton, Coal & Allied, Macquarie Generation, Muswellbrook Coal Company Limited, Theiss Services, and Xstarta Coal. “Bursting with Energy Expo” will be open 9am – 3.30pm on Friday 23rd and 10am -4pm Saturday 24th March.
FMX Kaos International Freestyle Team

This talented team of bike riders will perform the scariest and craziest tricks on their bikes that you are likely to see. These talented trained professionals have travelled the country and have ridden at the biggest show. The FMX Kaos International freestyle team is the fastest growing freestyle motocross team in Australia. Appearing at the Upper Hunter Show for the first time is Michael “Chucky” Norris, from Newcastle. Joining him is Michael hall from Coffs Harbour, one of the innovators of freestyle motocross in Australia. FMX Kaos was the first in the world to bring a portable landing ramp on the back of a truck. See them in action at 6pm and 8.15pm on Saturday 24th March.
The Bushwhacker Lumberjack Show
The Upper Hunter will get a taste of Canada when some champion lumberjacks appear at the Show this year. The Lumberjack Show is an International Act that will thoroughly entertain spectators. Some show visitors will have the opportunity to get hands on, as the Lumberjack show features crowd participation.
The Lumberjack Show comes from New Zealand. Appearing also will be the four-time speed climbing world record holder Stirling Hart. The Canadian holds the title of Ironjack World Champion and will bring a slice of North American Timbersports to the Upper Hunter Show.
Wood chopping and wood splitting competitions are planed between Australia and Canada There will also be axe throwing, log rolling, pole climbing, chainsaw duelling and much more. See the Lumberjack Show at noon, 4.30pm and 7pm on Friday 23rd March and 4pm, 6.30pm, and 8.45pm on Saturday 24th March.

The Australian Year of the Farmer Roadshow will stop off at the Upper Hunter on its nation wide tour of Australia. The Roadshow is travelling the length and breadth of Australia throughout 2012 educating rural and urban Australians about the important role farming plays in our lives. They are stopping at agricultural shows, concerts, shows, rodeos, festivals and other popular events.
The Road show is made up of nine state-of-the-art roadshow vehicles. The specially designed semi-trailers and four-wheel drives with trailers are fitted out with interactive displays, display boards with interesting information and activities for all ages. They are designed to demonstrate why Australian farmers are among the best and most efficient farmers in the world. Open 10am - 6pm on Friday 23rd and Saturday 24th March

Premier Horse Events - will include camp-drafting, district hack, riding events, breed classes, stock horse classes, open hack and riding events along with the heavy horses, Australian saddle ponies, miniature horse and harness classes. The show-jumping will be highlighted by the Grand Prix event and the State of Origin Polocrosse held over both days. These will provide many thrills.
Rodeo – the rodeo action begins on Saturday afternoon and continues through into the evening
Stud Beef Cattle - will encompass the school beef cattle judging day on Friday 23rd march and the beef breed classes on Saturday 24th March.
Poultry classes - will be judged in the purpose built poultry pavilion.
Dog High Jump Demonstration – will be held at 2.30pm and 5.30pm on Saturday 24th March

There is an action packed program of events at this years Upper Hunter Regional Show to cater for all age groups and interests.
Fireworks will be let ooif at 8.30pm on Friday 23rd March
The Demolition Derby will be on a 9.30pm on Saturday 24th March
The Grand Parade, Official Opening and Miss Showgirl Competition will be held at 3pm on Saturday 24th March
