Destination NSW has partnered with Badminton Australia to secure the Yonex
Australian Open – Grand Prix Gold badminton event in Sydney.
Securing the Badminton Grand Prix Gold for Sydney is yet another major coup for the State and is a great addition to the NSW Events Calendar. The event will be held in Sydney in 2012 and 2013.
Badminton has a huge following in Asia and
this event is part of Destination NSW’s strategy to develop tourism from the
region, as one of the State’s fastest growing markets. The Grand Prix is
expected to draw large numbers of competitors from across the globe and the
television broadcast is watched by millions of viewers from around the world.
The Grand Prix will see the likes of badminton’s best, including Olympic Gold medal contenders, battle it out on courts at the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre in Darling Harbour from 3 to 8 April 2012.
