The Museum of Contemporary Art (MCA) in Sydney, Australia, says the Rafael Lozano-Hemmer: Recorders exhibition has proven to be popular with international and domestic visitors to Sydney and has attracted up to 1,800 total visitors per day. Showing until 12 February, this is the first solo exhibition in Australia by Lozano-Hemmer, one of the world’s best-known electronic artists.
With more than 45% of visitors to the exhibition from outside of Sydney, the MCA continues to be a drawcard, even while undergoing extensive renovation. Destination NSW is a major partner in the exhibition and has been working with the MCA to promote the event, through the “IT’S ON!” campaign.
Rafael Lozano-Hemmer has attracted global attention for his highly interactive and complex digital artworks. Visitors of all ages and backgrounds have been surprised, delighted and intrigued as they use their voice, movement, fingerprints, pulse and even the contents of their pockets to bring the works to life.
Rafael Lozano-Hemmer: Recorders is part of this year’s Sydney International Art Series which also includes Picasso: Masterpieces from the Musée National Picasso, Paris at the Art Gallery of NSW. The series is a signature event on the NSW Events Calendar.
