The most "famous" is probably Mui Treo (formerly in Vinh Kim commune, now in Kim Thach commune, Vinh Linh district). Cape Treo is quite high compared to sea level, from the top of the nose looking down to feel the wild beauty of nature.
Mui Treo is familiar with the "photographers" who like to go on a picnic. On weekends and public holidays, Mui Treo area is always overcrowded with tourists, mainly young people. In May 2018, former Chairman of Quang Tri Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Duc Chinh led a delegation to survey this unspoiled tourist destination.
To get to Cape Treo, the survey team had to walk through Ru Bau (a dense forest of mainly red-leaved oak trees...). The entire area of Ru Bau is more than 7 hectares, with a very high biodiversity, when entering, it will be very cool. Going all the way to Ru Bau will come to Mui Treo, which is a cape with a special shape when reaching out to the sea, very steep, a few tens of meters from the sea surface. This is the place that many people choose to take photos of a lifetime… and feel the immensity of the sea and sky.
Just below Cape Treo is a pristine beach with many large stones stacked on top of each other as a deliberate arrangement of nature. And with the above characteristics, Mui Treo area is considered by "backpackers" to be an extremely ideal camping spot...
At that time, Mr. Nguyen Duc Chinh said that the area of Mui Treo and Ru Bau was very unspoiled but had tourism potential, especially picnic tourism. He assigned the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism to sit down with the local government to find a development direction for this tourist destination. In the immediate future, he will survey the shortest route from Cua Tung to Cape Treo to stimulate demand. tourists, so that more people know about Mui Treo….
Not far from Mui Treo is Mui Lay. This is also a rocky headland about 500 m into the sea in Vinh Moc village (Kim Thach commune, Vinh Linh district) about 7 km north of Cua Tung beach.
Mui Lay is known by people in the region and seafarers because of its rather high Mui Lay lighthouse located on the mainland (nearly 40 m high, put into operation in 1976). Seafarers in the region use Mui Lay lighthouse to guide their sea voyages, especially in foggy and stormy days. The lighthouse is an ideal place to admire the vast sea, enjoy the sea breeze, watch the seagulls or watch the ships offshore.
Meanwhile, with tourists from all over the world and "experts", Mui Lay has become one of the favorite places to check-in and camp. Here, the sea is calm, the waves are gentle, the water is clear blue, the sand is gentle and stretches, extremely clean. Especially near this beach, there is an ancient well with clear water that you can use comfortably after swimming.
“Travel does not have to go to luxurious places. Coming to Mui Lay, with just a tent and some picnic supplies, my family still has unforgettable experiences with the golden sun and the blue sea", friend Ngo Truong Giang, resident in Dong Ha city, excited to talk about Mui Lay.
Mui Si (in Kim Thach commune) is no less competitive. Because this place is a fairly wide flat strip of land jutting out into the sea, located in the middle of the coastal road from "beach queen" Cua Tung to Vinh Moc tunnels (Vinh Linh). In particular, in addition to the soaring casuarina groves on a triangular strip of land jutting out about 30 meters above the sea level, at the foot of Mui Si is a pristine beach with beautiful rocks… Mui Si is becoming a popular destination. Families and tourists choose as a place to hide from the sun during these fiery summer days in Quang Tri.
Right on the pristine beach, the foot of Mui Si mountain looks like it was created with rare sculptures. The rocky snouts are one after another with rows of green moss after a long winter, not many people come here. All of them also bring something extremely wild and bold color of the sea.
Also at this beautiful strip of land that juts out into the sea, visitors are surprised to see the Mui Si tunnel about 200 meters long, including 3 doors and 1 vent facing the sea. This is also one of the unique tunnels located in the Vinh Moc tunnel system and Vinh Linh tunnel village.
Realizing the tourism potential of the rocky headlands jutting into the sea, for many years, Vinh Linh district has sought to develop agricultural and rural tourism with step-by-step routes. However, at present, the "nose" has not been properly exploited with its potential and advantages due to poor infrastructure, poor tourism services and lack of human resources to operate. Vice Chairman of Vinh Linh District People's Committee Nguyen Anh Tuan said that Vinh Linh district is currently focusing on upgrading investment and developing rural tourist spots in association with implementing new rural construction criteria on the basis of maximizing participation of people, communities and tourism business sectors Especially rural tourist attractions managed, exploited and benefited by the community under the guidance of state management agencies, government rights at all levels. And the "nose" will be developed in this direction.
