Join us for the International Symposium on Destination Stewardship, which will be held at the Canadian Museum of History in Gatineau, Quebec, November 6-8, 2023.
The Destination Stewardship Symposium will be situated on the unceded traditional territory of the Algonquin Anishinaabe Nation. We respect, honour and acknowledge the Algonquin Nation’s stewardship of this land, from time immemorial and into the future.
Destination Canada will bring together global thought leaders, stakeholders, and knowledge holders from diverse sectors for a first-of-its kind discussion on redefining the role of tourism and destination stewardship.
Tourism has the potential to transform economies, reignite the social fabric of a community, protect our climate and guide a country towards a more sustainable path. Around the world, there is a shift in how tourism is viewed and how a regenerative and holistic approach to the sector can drive long-term benefits for communities and visitors alike.
Participants at The Symposium will be challenged to step outside their usual networks, ecosystems, and ways of thinking to explore new connections and find new inspiration. The event will explore existing frameworks on regeneration, measuring success through wealth and wellbeing outcomes, and tracking tourism's impact in alignment with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Best practices and lessons from successful destinations will also be highlighted over the course of the three days.
Our aim is to spark a global conversation on the vision for tourism and inspire communities to adopt a regenerative mindset and become catalysts for change and growth.
We look forward to you joining us on this meaningful and thought provoking journey in Gatineau, Quebec across the river from Ottawa and the National Capital Region.
