Take a trip back in time at the town of Kurashiki in Okayama Prefecture for a feel of old Japan…

Kurashiki Bikan Historical Quarter
Once flourished as a merchant town during the Edo Period (1603-1868), here you’ll find the Kurashiki Bikan Historical Quarter, a beautifully preserved district lined with a blend of 17th century Japanese and western-style architecture.

Running through the heart of the area is the Kurashiki Canal, where visitors have the opportunity to take a traditional boat tour and admire the historic townscape as they meander along the river.

Explore a town that will take you back in time, while experiencing the local culture at vibrant cafes, museums and restaurants dotted throughout the area.

You can access Kurashiki from Okayama City by train. From Okayama Station, take the local Sanyo Line to Kurashiki Station.

The historical quarter is approximately a 10 minute walk from the station.
