The Cairns Convention Centre (CCC) has launched a new
banqueting menu showcasing the fresh regional produce that Far North Queensland
is famous for. As well as including a wide range of options for morning and
afternoon teas, lunch, welcome receptions, networking functions, and gala
dinners, executive chef Perry Stevens (pictured, far right with a local papaya
farmer) shares the stories of some of the Centre’s key suppliers.
“We have always had strong links with our region and
sourced as much local produce as possible,” says CCC general manager Ross
Steele. “The new menu showcases our connection with our suppliers in a personal
way with Executive Chef, Perry Stevens introducing our clients to a few of our
local suppliers. It is time to tell the world what we have always known; we
have the freshest, best produce.

“Our Region is blessed with a tropical coastal climate
and milder, cooler weather on the Atherton Tablelands, and this allows us to
purchase exotic tropical fruits, herbs and seafood locally as well as procure
wonderful fresh avocados, potatoes, pumpkins and citrus fruits.”
