Travel + Leisure’s Global Vision Awards 2012

Travel + Leisure’s Global Vision Awards recognize companies and organizations that are maintaining the vibrancy of the traveler’s world through environmental conservation, cultural preservation, and community building, and harnessing tourism to assist in these efforts.

To be considered for this year’s awards, people need to fill out an application form and return by April 6, 2012.

People need to describe actions what their company or organization has taken to be a leader in environmental conservation, cultural preservation, and/or community building. Any supporting materials on policies and practices - mission statements, guidelines, corporate social responsibility and sustainability reports, outside articles, etc.-  may be attached

The three categories for awards are: :

- Environmental Conservation

This is for those working on a wildlife/nature conservation project that is of interest to travellers. Just describe this project and how you monitor its success.

- Cultural Preservation

This is for those with a cultural or historic preservation project that is of interest to travelers (e.g., restoring/conserving buildings and sites of historic significance; engaging local artisans; participating in local festivals; encouraging cultural traditions).  Just explain how this project is of interest to travelers, either by encouraging them to participate, employing tourism dollars in these efforts, or protecting a site of special interest to them.

- Community Building

This id for those who make a contribution to their local community, or communities around the world, through programs that offer poverty relief and economic development, education and job opportunities, and/or access to healthcare. Just describe these efforts and give specific examples and any available quantitative data that demonstrate the success of your community-building efforts.
