Dark Mofo: A Winter Ritual Returns

Tasmania's midwinter solstice festival, Dark Mofo, is making its grand return in 2025 after a year-long hiatus. This iconic festival offers a bold and immersive experience, featuring art installations, performances, music, and strange winter rituals. Highlights include the Winter Feast, the Ogoh-Ogoh, Night Mass, and the infamous Nude Solstice Swim. One of the first announced artworks, 'We threw them down the rocks where they had thrown the sheep,' by Trawlwoolway artist Nathan Maynard, explores themes of cultural theft and erasure, set in a dramatic installation in a Hobart basement. The full festival program will be released on April 4th.
