Launceston is preparing to roll out the red carpet as the Australian Musical Theatre Festival returns from 21 to 25 May, promising a dazzling celebration of stage and song. Artistic Director Tyran Parke has revealed the final program and it’s nothing short of extraordinary. Leading the lineup are celebrated musical theatre artists Caroline O’Connor, Alinta Chidzey, and Mark Vincent, now joined by a living legend of the stage, Nancye Hayes.
This boutique festival in the heart of Tasmania will also showcase the magic of the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra, bringing lush, live orchestration to several performances. It's an event that promises to thrill die-hard theatre fans and newcomers alike.
More Stars Take the Spotlight
Joining the festival's headline acts are a glittering cast of stage veterans and rising stars: Johanna Allen, Mark Dickinson, Ross Hannaford, Glenn Hill, and Cassie Ogle, with a host of local talent soon to be revealed. From West End credentials to international tours, this year’s performers bring with them stories, songs and spectacular stagecraft.
As Tyran Parke explains, “We’re celebrating the breadth and beauty of music theatre—from Harold Arlen tributes to film musical nostalgia—and with our accessible festival model, much of it will be free on Saturday.”
