It’s not until you explore for yourself, however – until you really get under the skin of the city – that you start to understand what Manchester really stands for. This is a city that marches forward; a city that celebrates diversity; a city that lives and loves; and a city that opens its arms to all.
We want you to explore, discover, and find the version of Manchester that speaks to you.
From much-loved coffee and brunch spots to our favourite neighbourhoods, towns full of character, museums, and galleries we know first-timers will enjoy Greater Manchester.
And if you’re a return visitor, welcome back! A lot has changed in recent years and there are plenty of new things to do and see, as well as many new developments to look forward to over the coming years. \
Take off and go exploring beyond the obvious attractions; to seek out those hidden gems that even many locals struggle to uncover.
And go speak to a local – whether that’s a member of staff at one of our great pubs, an expert at the Visitor Information Centre, or a person in the street – to find out what they recommend; there are no better advocates for Manchester than the warm and friendly people who live here and who invariably love it.
I’d like to thank you for visiting us – and once you have, I’m confident you’ll want to come back. Like
many visitors you may even end up coming to live, study or work here. Manchester often has that effect on people these days.
Wherever you have travelled from and whoever you are, you are always welcome here.
Nick Brooks-Sykes, Director of Tourism, Marketing Manchester
