Thousands of travellers heading to Cairns for Chinese New Year 2024

China Eastern Airlines Global will operate special seasonal services direct from Shanghai to Cairns from 1-18 February 2024 to meet the strong demand for a tropical Chinese New Year holiday, in a move that is estimated to generate up to $3 million for the local visitor economy.

TEQ, Cairns Airport, and Tourism Tropical North Queensland are gearing up to launch a tactical trade campaign in the coming weeks. The aim is to capitalize on this opportunity, maximizing the benefits for North Queensland in terms of tourism, export opportunities, and cargo trade.

This development follows China Eastern Airlines' recent resumption of direct flights between Shanghai and Brisbane, a testament to the thriving partnership facilitated by the Queensland Government's $200 million Attracting Aviation Investment Fund.
