Quang Nam tourism highlights in 2023

There were three positive signals for Quang Nam tourism in 2023

Strong recovery

Quang Nam province welcomed more than 7.5 million visitors in 2023, compared to approximately 7.8 million visitors in 2019.

In 2023, Quang Nam tourism revenue was estimated to reach 7,950 billion VND. Social income from the tourism reached about 18,683 billion VND.

These two numbers exceeded the same period in 2019 (before the outbreak of the COVID-19 epidemic) of 6,000 billion VND and 14,000 billion VND, respectively.

In 2024, Quang Nam aims to welcome 7.6 million visitors, including 3.9 million international visitors and 3.7 million domestic visitors. The tourism industry revenue is expected to reach 8.5 trillion VND.

Especially, Hoi An welcomed about 3 million international visitors in 2023, compared to 4 million international arrivals in 2019.

According to statistics from the provincial Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, there were 10 markets with the largest number of international tourists coming to Quang Nam in 2023, including South Korea, China, Australia, England, Malaysia, America, France, Germany, Thailand, and India.

International recognition

In early 2023, Tan Thanh fishing village won an ASEAN tourism award.

Hoi An ancient town was given different honors such as the Top 10 Finalists of the Timeless Beauty Award, Top 15 Favorite Cities In Asia, Top UNESCO Best Impressive Heritages.

In addition, Thanh Ha terracotta park was suggested in the Top 5 Best Relaxation Spots in Vietnam, Shore Club An Bang Beach was in the Top 10 Most Luxurious Beach Clubs in Southeast Asia, Hoi An Memories Islands in Asia's Leading Cultural and Entertainment Tourism Complex.

Many high-end accommodation establishments in Quang Nam entered the lists of the Top 15 resorts in Asia, Leading hotels in the world, New globally attractive hotels etc.

Spreading green tourism

Last year, most tourism activities and events in Quang Nam focused on the green tourism.

In 2023, Quang Nam worked with the delegation of the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) on the sustainable tourism development project in Vietnam (ST4SD) funded by the Swiss Government for the period 2023 - 2027.

Quang Nam Tourism Association and related units have also proactively connected and effectively implemented projects on tourism waste treatment from Vietnam Tourism Association, Pacific Environment, and UN Habitat in Tam Ky and Hoi An cities.

Besides, tourism models associated with new rural areas were built, such as the development of community tourism associated with preserving indigenous cultural values and natural ecosystems at Kim Bong carpentry village in Cam Kim commune, Hoi An), the development of community tourism associated with preserving and promoting cultural values in Muong village (Tra Giang commune, Bac Tra My), community tourism in Cua Khe village and Thang Binh.

In April 2023, Quang Nam ranked among the world's leading green tourism destinations in Asia by the UK travel site Wanderlust. Quang Nam is the only representative in Vietnam to appear on this list, along with Bhutan, Singapore, and Ataúro Island (East Timor).
