Giving the opening remarks, Mr. Vu A Bang - Vice Chairman of Dien Bien Provincial People’s Committee said, Dien Bien is located in the Northwest, bordering two countries: China and Laos. This is a land blessed by nature, friendly and hospitable people, and diverse cultural identity. Currently, Dien Bien is the only province among the Northwest provinces that has an airport connecting to Ha Noi and Ho Chi Minh City that has just been upgraded into a large airport, the road transport system with provinces in the region is being invested and expanded... These are important factors for the province to develop tourism. Besides, the province has many historical, spiritual, cultural, and ecological tourism resources, which are favourable conditions for attracting investment in developing historical-spiritual tourism products; cultural identity tourism, exploring natural landscapes; leisure, recreation, and health care tourism.
The year 2024 holds a big meaning for Dien Bien when many key events take place: celebrating the 70th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu victory; 115 years of establishment of the province; 75 years since the establishment of the Provincial Party Committee and 270 years since Hoang Cong Chat's insurgent army liberated Muong Thanh. In particular, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has approved the Project to organise the Visit Vietnam Year - Dien Bien 2024, with 169 national and provincial programmes and events with the participation of 33 provinces, city; including outstanding activities and events in Dien Bien Province, promising to bring many new experiences and discoveries.
The 2024 conference to promote tourism in Dien Bien Province is organised with the desire to contribute to promoting and strengthening the introduction, promotion of tourist destinations, tourism products and services, cultural heritage and tourism development orientation of Dien Bien Province; strengthen connection, linkage, and cooperation in tourism development between Dien Bien Province and other provinces and cities; create opportunities for tourism businesses and units to promote information exchange and market development.
Mr. Vu A Bang hopes that State management agencies, localities, businesses, and investors exchange and share, focusing on a number of contents such as: the role of tourism in socio-economic development, especially green tourism and sustainable tourism; effectively exploit and promote destinations, tourism products and services, and tourism quality…
Delegates attending the conference listened to the introduction of the Visit Vietnam Year - Dien Bien 2024; introducing the tourism potential of a number of districts and town in Dien Bien Province; typical tourism services and programs; mechanisms, policies and priority projects to attract investment in the province…
Mr. Nguyen Quy Phuong - Manager of Tourism Marketing Division, Vietnam National Authority of Tourism (VNAT), indicated that Dien Bien possesses majestic natural beauty, diverse national culture and especially a rich and heroic history. Dien Bien has convenient air connections with major passenger centres such as Ha Noi and Ho Chi Minh City; is the gateway connecting roads with famous tourist destinations in the Northwest such as Son La, Lai Chau, Lao Cai; and has a border with the northern provinces of Laos. With those favourable conditions, along with mechanisms, policies and priority projects to attract investment, the province is welcoming and ready to create the most favourable conditions for businesses to invest in tourism.
This year, Dien Bien is the host of the Visit Vietnam Year 2024. This is an important event of the tourism industry with many programmes and activities organised by localities across the country towards Dien Bien. In tourism promotion programmes initiated and organised by VNAT, Dien Bien Province will focus on promoting the Visit Vietnam Year - Dien Bien 2024 professionally and widely to invite tourists to the province.
VNAT inquired Dien Bien Province to closely coordinate tourism promotion activities in key international markets to attract international visitors and consider participating in the TRAVEX 2024 in Vientiane, Laos. This is an important event in enhancing cooperation, exchange and advertising, promotion and development of tourism among member countries in the ASEAN region as well as between ASEAN and the international community.
Previously, from 30th December 2023 to 3rd January 2024, the Dien Bien Provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism organised a fam trip to conduct an inspection of typical tourism products of Dien Bien.
The fam trip group inspected tourism products at Pha Din Pass, Toa Tinh commune, Tuan Giao district
Joining the fam trip were nearly 40 travel businesses, reporters from news agencies and newspapers from Ha Noi, Ho Chi Minh City. The group conducted inspection and experienced tourist destinations such as: Pha Din Pass tourist destination, Tuan Giao district; relics of Dien Bien Phu Campaign Command Headquarters in Muong Phang; some homestays in Muong Phang commune; Dien Bien Phu Historical Victory Museum; Hill A1 relic; Martyrs' Temple at Dien Bien Phu Battlefield...
After inspecting a number of tourist attractions and monuments in Dien Bien Phu City, the fam trip group continued to move and participate in activities at the 9th Swallowtail Boat Racing Festival and the 4th National Paragliding Club Championship also organised in Muong Lay Town.
