Discover the serene beauty of snow-draped Metasequoia trees in Miyagi Prefecture

Metasequoia trees
These majestic giants, blanketed in a pristine layer of snow, create a divine winter landscape.

The prefectural Koaraji Makino Sawa road runs through the Makino Pic-Land agricultural park, and along it are approximately 500 metasequoia trees that cover a total length of around 2.4 kilometers. The trees strike a perfect balance with the distant Nosaka mountains, and form a magnificent landscape that is a fitting approach to the Makino highlands. With budding flowers and fresh verdure in spring, deep green in summer, red leaves in autumn, and bare, snow-covered branches in winter, the trees charm visitors in every season.

The sun melts the snow quickly, so be sure to see it early at sunrise for a captivating sight!
