The cream of Australian Country Music has joined forces to support Lifeline during the Tamworth Country Music Festival.
In a world first, fans will be able to speak to their favourite artists one-on-one in a live video chat from wherever they may be in Australia or around the world. Each video chat lasts 5 minutes and concludes with a virtual selfie that is sent to fans at the end of the call.
The new app platform called features leading edge technology and is the brainchild of Lee and Robby Kernaghan.
Lee says “I’m so grateful to all those people who’ve come out to my shows over the years. When the pandemic hit, everything came to a sudden end along with that personal connection that has been such a source of inspiration for my tours and songwriting over the years. My wife Robby said ‘how about connecting with people through live video chats’ and that’s how the idea for StarKix came about. It’s a privilege to be able to launch the new app with a fundraiser for Lifeline Tamworth and it’s been really heart-warming to see the amazing support from the local community and the top stars of country music.”
Local Lifeline manager Kimberley Squires said "The funds raised will go directly to train more crisis supporters in Tamworth, answering our 13 11 14 number here in regional NSW. Lifeline’s crisis line receives more than 3000 calls every day from Australians needing someone to talk to. In regional centres where it’s harder to access mental health care, Lifeline literally saves lives.”
A stellar line-up of stars will be donating their time over the weekend starting from Thursday through to midnight on Sunday.
Fans simply need to download the StarKix app from their preferred app store.100% of every $20.00 donation will go to Lifeline Tamworth New England.
