Mr. Lawrence Ho, Chairman & CEO of Melco, said, “We believe that every colleague graduate from our Whole Person Development academic programs should be proud of their achievements. The occurrence of COVID-19 prevented us from hosting celebratory graduation ceremonies in the past few years – which makes today’s event even more meaningful for our colleagues – especially when it highlights the perseverance and dedication they have shown in the face of the many challenges brought on by the pandemic. Understandably, it is no easy feat balancing work, family and study obligations. Congratulations to our graduates on their wonderful achievements. I hope our colleagues will continue to practice lifelong learning and to go on achieving prosperity and success both personally and professionally.”

Mr. Kong Chi Meng, Representative of the Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture and Director of the Education and Youth Development Bureau, said, “Talent cultivation is of paramount importance to the success of an enterprise. We appreciate Melco’s robust and continued support in cultivating talents among its employees through a series of comprehensive learning programs to enhance their professional skills and provide them with career development opportunities. Today’s celebration is a testament to the combined achievements of both Melco and its graduate colleagues. Congratulations to all Melco graduate colleagues on your hard work and accomplishments.”

In the Company’s commitment to developing local talent through innovative programs as part of its corporate social responsibility, Melco’s wide range of multi-level learning opportunities encourage and support personal and professional lifelong learning to transform the lives of its colleagues. As part of the Company’s emphasis and commitment to Whole Person Development, Melco’s Learning Academy has offered over 500 learning programs per year since its establishment in 2010.

Melco adopts a systematic approach to accelerate talent growth through Whole Person Development. Its various talent diversification programs provide colleagues and the community with cross-functional exposure into various departments other than one’s own for foundation development, exposure to various experiences, projects and challenges, and development opportunities ranging from singular tasks to projects that can last anything from an hour to days, weeks, or months. Highlight initiatives include YOU-niversity Program, Foundation Acceleration Program, Culinary Foundation Acceleration Program, Back to School Program, Scholarship and Diploma Programs, Dare to Dream, Labour Affairs Bureau – Graduate Trainee Program and Melco’s in-house Learning Academy.

Among them, the Back to School Program provides colleagues who left school prematurely with the opportunity to gain their High School Diploma by undertaking formal education in-house at Melco alongside their employment. Melco was the first local integrated resort operator to launch such a program back in 2010. In addition, since 2015, Melco Learning Academy launched the Melco YOU-niversity Program in partnership with Edinburgh Napier University, a fully funded program for selected colleagues to study for a bachelor’s degree while working. Colleagues who successfully graduate from the Melco YOU-niversity Program attain a Bachelor of Arts in International Business Practice.
