The addition of country music legends Lee Kernaghan and Casey Barnes to the already star-studded judging panel this year is set to take KIX-Start to new heights.
Lee Kernaghan is one of the most influential and successful artists in Australian country music history; with 38 Golden Guitars, four ARIA Awards and three APRA Awards, as well as winning Australian of the Year in 2008. Casey Barnes is one of the hottest acts on the Australian country scene right now, with his hugely successful 2022 album ‘Light it Up’ garnering an ARIA award, a Golden Guitar win, and multiple chart-topping singles. Both Groundwater CMF favourites, Lee and Casey will be returning to the Broadbeach stage this October and will share their experience and knowledge with the KIX-Start winner.
“KIX Start 2023 is our biggest search for new talent yet,” said KIX Content Director and KIX-Start judge Justin Thomson, “I'm really excited to be working with Lee Kernaghan, Casey Barnes and our expert judging panel to find Australia’s next rising star of country. It's incredibly inspiring to see the amount of new country artists coming through. Country music is booming and it's an important time for new country talent to show us what they've got! We'll be searching the whole country for someone we think is ready to take the next step in their career.”
